Northumberland Wildlife Trust
Northumberland Wildlife Trust look after 60 nature reserves, support 300 volunteers and run over 50 public events each year to inspire the general public about nature conservation.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust (NWT) has been working with landowners, local authorities, businesses and local communities for over 50 years to restore, reconnect and recreate landscapes and wildlife habitats in Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. The Trust itself cares for over 60 nature reserves and liaises closely with sister Trusts in Durham and Tees Valley, all members of the UK-wide Wildlife Trusts network.
We believe in bringing people closer to nature to understand its all-too-often unrecognised but fundamental importance in our lives – for health and mental well-being, providing food, clean air, water and climate control.
Chief Executive, Mike Pratt, acknowledges the role of the People’s Postcode Lottery players:
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who plays the People’s Postcode Lottery. The substantial funding we receive goes towards creating a better future for people and wildlife. We manage some of the country’s rarest and most protected habitats – freely available to all; we inspire the next generations through our educational programmes; and we campaign to ensure policy and legislation are in place to protect biodiversity in the region.“
