Street League

Street League is a national charity which uses sport to tackle youth unemployment across the UK

At Street League young people find a way out of poverty. The charity works with young people aged 14-30 living in some of England and Scotland's most disadvantaged communities, helping them to overcome their practical and personal barriers to employment - from mental health issues to caring responsibilities and having no or low qualifications. Their vision is a society in which all young people have the opportunity of secure employment and a brighter future.

Sport is at the heart of its programmes, developing the life and workplace skills, self-worth and sense of belonging young people need to thrive. Street League’s programmes:

  • Work in schools and communities with young people at risk of future unemployment
  • Support unemployed young people into high quality employment, training or education through their national network of sport and employability academies
  • Provide working young people with opportunities to learn, progress and build a career, tackling in-work poverty

Dougie Stevenson, CEO of Street League, said, "We are very grateful to players of People's Postcode Lottery for supporting Street League in our mission to use sport and education to help young people into work. The pandemic has deepened inequality and poverty in communities across the UK and young people have been particularly hard hit. Thanks to your generous and long-term support, Street League is giving young people a place to turn when their future is feeling uncertain and frightening. Together, we are changing young people's lives through sustainable jobs, education and training opportunities."
