Volunteering Matters

Inspiring People, Changing Communities

Volunteering Matters develops and delivers high impact volunteer-led solutions in response to some of the most difficult challenges facing individuals and their communities today. They engage more than 30,000 volunteers and 90,000 beneficiaries every year through 180 active programmes across the UK.

Volunteering Matters believes that investing in people through the power of volunteering makes a real difference. Not only to the volunteer themselves, but also the beneficiary and society as a whole. Their volunteer programmes improve health and wellbeing, build stronger, more inclusive communities and achieve lasting results.

They believe that everyone can play a role in their community and should have the chance to participate. They therefore build projects and programmes to reflect this. The charity focuses on the needs of four distinct communities: older people, younger people, families and disabled people.

Funding from players of People's Postcode Lottery will allow Volunteering Matters to continue its incredible work, preventing the isolation and loneliness experienced by so many older people today. They will be able to empower more people aged 50+ to take a lead role in both setting up and participating in volunteering activities which improve their own health and that of others in their community.
