£250,000 Prize

Treasures For Trentham

28 June 2025 - ST4 8BN - Trentham - £250,000 Prize
Tim and Rebecca with a cheque for a whopping £250,000

An excited wife booked a holiday to Tenerife within seconds of her husband winning £250,000.

Rebecca Seaton went straight onto a flight app on her mobile to lock down bargain travel to the Spanish isle - as she watched husband Tim being presented with his whopping cheque.

As the mum-of-two dashed across the back garden to show Tim her purchase, he said: "A nice holiday would be good. We'll go to Tenerife and maybe go up a few stars on the hotel."

He added: "I'm dumbstruck. This is far more than I expected.

"I signed up for the charities... and maybe to win some money. You feel better knowing you do a bit for charity, although there is a chance of winning. This is the proof."

Tim and two other neighbours celebrated after ST4 8BN in Trentham was announced as the winner of one of People Postcode Lottery's newest prizes. Every player in the winning postcode bags £250,000 for each ticket they have.

Retired joiner Tim choked back tears when he saw his winnings - then revealed he's only been playing Postcode Lottery for seven months.

He said: "I've only been playing for a short time - since November last year. I've already won £12, but this is amazing. I'm over the moon."

Tim now wants to downsize from his sprawling detached villa to a bungalow - and continue his love affair with the Ford Capri.

He said: "I'd like to get a bungalow before we need a bungalow, if you know what I mean. I'd like to invest in that for the future.

"I've also had Capris, and I want another one. I’ve loved Capris since I got my first one. It was just beautiful. I got it in 1980, and it was a '73. It's not the best car in the world, but it’s beautiful and the most sexy."

He added, as Rebecca shouted 'no' to him from the back door: "Except my wife doesn't seem to like them. I just got rid of a 1986 Ford Capri, but I’ve always wanted a Mark 1. You'd probably pay about £20,000 for a 1972 or something like that."

Tim revealed he's never bought his wife a present for 30 years - but will there be a treat for her now?

He said: "People ask what I get my wife for birthdays and Christmas. I buy her nothing for two reasons; I always get it wrong, and I'm asked if I still have the receipt. Secondly, she gets what she wants when she wants."

He laughed: "But I might get her a new Hoover!"

Part-time college worker Rebecca added: "The last thing he bought me was a Jason Donovan video. But do you know something? I don't want anything. What I want, you can't buy; my mum back."

A few doors along, Deborah Phillips started screaming and dancing on her doorstep when she saw her quarter of a million pound cheque.

The social care assessor at Royal Stoke University Hospital revealed she had already started whooping in the A&E department when she got a call from electrician partner Earl Cameron to say she'd won - before jumping in the car to dash home.

Deborah said: "I was at work for 7.45am and my partner rang me to say the Postcode Lottery were at the house. I said, 'you’re lying'.

"Then I realised it was real and screamed in A&E and said, I've got to go home. The doctors and nurses were looking at me as if to say, 'she’s mad'. One nurse said to me, 'are you ok?'

"When I told everyone how much I’d won they were like, 'no way'. But they did say I deserved it, which was nice.

"I went to my boss and she said, 'get off, you’re winding me up'. I was shaking so my boss came back to the house with me when I was driving. She got an Uber back to work, but I said, 'you're not paying for that Uber, I'll pay for it'.

"I've got to go back to work, but I'll try and do it with the biggest smile. And I've got to go to work tomorrow, but I'll be buying some champagne and a takeaway."

Deborah said she had been on the cusp of cancelling her lottery subscription a few weeks ago.

The grandmother-of-seven said: "I said the other week that I was going to stop playing because I never win anything. Thankfully I kept it on. I would have been sick as a pig if I'd stopped.

"This is life-changing. We've always worked for what we’ve got and never had anything given to us. I can do a lot of things now and help my loved ones. I'm not materialistic, it will be nice to treat others."
