A stunned dad is £250,000 richer after his son’s own Postcode Lottery heartbreak convinced him to buy a ticket.

Neil McGregor scooped the stunning tax-free prize two years after his lad Scott watched neighbours on his street in Bridge of Earn, Perthshire, share a mammoth £10.2 Million pot.

Scott had been meaning to sign up himself but never quite got round to it. Determined not to miss out twice, he urged his mum and dad to enter with their own address 20 miles away instead.

Son knows best

"This is all because of our son. The street where he lives had a big win. He was going to buy a ticket and never got round to it, so he advised us to do it.”

Neil was one of two winners in Blairgowrie when PH10 6XA landed our monthly £250,000 prize today.

For Neil, a retired site manager, the biggest joy is knowing the son whose disappointment started it all will now be able to share in their good fortune.

Graceland calling

Neil and wife Irene are planning a first-class trip back to Elvis Presley's Graceland, treats all round for the family and a first car for their granddaughter.

The lifelong Elvis fans have already visited the King's famous home, but always dreamed of returning.

Irene said: "I love Elvis, and I've always loved Elvis. I just think he's great. I'd like to go back and see Graceland and experience it again."

Birthday bonus

"It’s unbelievable. These things just don't happen to me. I've never seen anything like this sort of money in my life before."

Across the road, neighbour and golf-daft dad Keith Gibb also won £250,000 just days before his birthday - the perfect finish to a dream year on and off the course.

Teeing up new adventures

Now, with his lottery windfall, Keith plans to tick off some of the dream courses he could never previously afford - including Scotland's world-famous links Royal Dornoch, Kingsbarns and North Berwick - plus bucket-list trips to Japan, Cambodia and the Caribbean.

A lifelong Hearts fan, he's also hoping the cash will fund away days following the Jambos in Europe.

He joked: "I'll probably take my kids on at least one of the away games if we last long enough."

Keith only joined Postcode Lottery three years ago after a leaflet dropped through his letterbox - and it was the charitable cause, as much as the prize money, that won him over.

He said: "I liked the idea of the charities that were benefiting from it. I felt it was a good cause with a good chance of winning some decent prizes."

Deserving Causes

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Support Trust which supports charities such as Crisis UK, Royal Voluntary Service, Kinship and Shelter.
