Relieved Juliette Spencer-Besant told how she forgot to cancel People’s Postcode Lottery as she ditched direct debits, and then won £250,000.

Juliette was clearing out subscriptions weeks ago and had intended to stop her lottery payment.

But the project manager revealed it slipped her mind as she aimed for a promotion at work and it’s landed her a terrific £250,000.

Juliette, of Havant in Hampshire, said: “I was going to cancel a couple of months back, but I’m really bad at personal stuff. I was going through direct debits and bits and pieces. Promotion came up at work and I’ve been working for that for the last two months and never got round to it.

“I did get round to cancelling some subscriptions, but with life and everything else taking over I didn’t get round to cancelling the Postcode Lottery.

“It’s probably the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to me. I’ll keep playing now.”

Juliette shared £1 Million with three other neighbours in a nine-storey block of flats which has its own postcode, PO9 2LD. They landed the weekly Millionaire Street prize in Havant, with every ticket worth £250,000.

Juliette said: “There was disbelief when I saw the cheque and then a wave of emotion came over me. But I managed to pull it together.”

But what would she have done if she had gotten round to cancelling her ticket?

She laughed: “I wouldn’t have let you in! This is unbelievable. Life-changing. What a great day!”

Juliette previously worked for celebrity chef Jamie Oliver as a business analyst and appeared in a couple of adverts for his TV shows. She said she will invest her small fortune wisely, but still wants to splash out on some treats.

For starters, she’s thinking of trading up her BMW for an Audi R8. She joked that she might even get two!

She said: “I’m a bit of a petrolhead. I might get a nice Audi R8. That’s always been on the wish list. Maybe two! A nice convertible for the summer and a hard top for the winter.”

Juliette also wants to indulge her globe-trotting passion and tick off a hotspot she’s always wanted to visit.

She said: “I love travelling, seeing lots of places and meeting different people. One of the ones on the list has always been the Maldives.”

The video gaming buff also loves to settle down after a hard shift and play Call Of Duty and Battlefield. And now she might do it on a better system.

She said: “One of my main hobbies is gaming. I’m currently on a PS4 at the moment, but I’m hoping to move up to a PS5 or a computer set-up and have a full gaming set-up. We'll see.”

And there might even be a £500 trinket to celebrate her win. She said: “I’m eyeing up a really nice watch. It’s a Tissot… a little bit of a navy blue one.”

Juliette said she joined Postcode Lottery to support charities but also with the chance to win.

She said: “It’s a bit of both. I felt that with the Postcode Lottery there is a whole range of charities that you can support so I thought it would be best to do it that way.”

And Juliette was delighted to learn that her win has meant local charities are sharing a slice of an additional £1 Million this month.

And one organisation, Off The Record (South East Hampshire), has been given £40,000.

The charity is a lifeline for young people and families across Havant and South East Hampshire, supporting emotional wellbeing and mental health since 1977.

They offer free counselling, group work and specialist support for young carers, helping people explore their emotions, manage challenges and build resilience. With a welcoming base in Leigh Park and outreach across harder-to-reach areas, Off The Record ensures that no one faces life’s challenges alone.

Head of Fundraising, Katharine Gregory, said: “We’re delighted with the news!

“Funding like this provides vital support, and we’re deeply grateful to players of People’s Postcode Lottery for helping make our work possible.”
