Forgetful fortune

Zoe Wallace thought she had left Saltdean, near Brighton, behind when she sold her home last August and moved to Pinner, north-west London.

But in a twist of lottery luck, her forgotten ticket remained registered to her former address - securing her a share of a £1 Million prize.

She said: "I'd forgotten that I still had the ticket on my old house... It's been a wonderful shock."

Zoe was among nine winners sharing £1 Million in Saltdean, East Sussex, when BN2 8LT landed our Millionaire Street prize.

Six people won £83,333 with a single ticket each. The other three neighbours doubled their windfalls to £166,666 holding two tickets.

For Zoe, the windfall will mean holidays and family time. She is heading to see her son Harvey, who is a ski instructor. Zoe has never skied - but admits there will probably be considerably more après-ski than skiing.

She adds: "I’ve never been on a winter sun holiday, and I’ve never skied. I don’t know if there’ll be any skiing, but it’ll be good fun."

Gobsmacked

Three people excitedly hold and react to a large lottery cheque for £83,333 on a sunny outdoor deck.

Eveli Hill was just weeks away from cancelling her Postcode Lottery ticket when her postcode landed a share of the £1 Million prize.

The project manager for Amex, who lives in the winning street with her husband Michael and their two children, had seriously considered stopping her ticket after playing for just a couple of years.

Eveli said: "I was thinking of cancelling only a couple of months ago, and I'm very glad I didn't, because that would have been the biggest regret of my life."

Eveli, who has lived on the street for around 11 years, has already got one major purchase in mind - a new kitchen.

She said: "I just want a new kitchen. That’s all I want."

They are heading to New York for the festive period, and Eveli says the £83,333 means the trip can now be made even more memorable.

Darby’s destiny

Ann Darby has always insisted her luck would eventually come in - and now she has £83,333 to prove it.

The retired teaching assistant has always joked that she would win big one day - and her husband John admits she has form when it comes to being lucky.

John said: "She's always been lucky. She's the sort of person that finds a £10 note lying in the gutter. She's always, always been that way."

Ann and John will mark their 50th wedding anniversary in April 2027, and the couple are planning a special cruise to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.

Ann said: "This has enabled us to go on a lovely cruise and have an anniversary to remember - the best anniversary ever."

The winning neighbours were also delighted to hear that local charities have received funding as a result of their Millionaire Street win.

One of the charities, The Sussex Beacon, has received £25,000 in funding, raised by Postcode Lottery players. They have helped people living locally with HIV for over 30 years. Their person-centred services include a women's group and day service.

Other charities in the area receiving funding include:

  • Justlife - £20,000 This charity helps people make their stay in temporary housing as short, safe, and healthy as possible, while assisting them to move into stable homes. It has a hub in Brighton but supports anyone across Sussex.

Deserving causes

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Education Trust which supports organisations including Right To Play UK, Save the Children, The PTI and UNICEF UK.

Players aren't the only ones who benefit from Postcode Lottery. A minimum of 30% of each ticket price goes to charities and good causes. Thanks to our fantastic players, more than £1.8 Billion has been raised for thousands of deserving projects.
