Three smiling adults hold £333,333 cheques outside a house, celebrating their lottery win.

Harlow Millionaire Street

A steeplejack who featured in a string of daredevil telly stunts is on a high after winning £666,666 with his wife on People’s Postcode Lottery.

Stunned Reg Dosell and missus Lynda struggled to come back down to earth when they were each presented with a cheque for £333,333 by ambassador Judie McCourt.

Reg has spent 60 years scaling terrifying heights with his job - even taking Blue Peter stars to the top of national landmarks.

But the business owner, of Harlow, Essex, reckons winning the cash is a different kind of frightening.

Reg said: "Work was quite scary, but this has taken the wind out of our sails. This is a totally different ballgame.

"I can’t imagine what it will be like to see that kind of money in the bank. We will be gobsmacked. It’s a vast amount of money.

"It’s absolutely amazing… brilliant. I can’t think of any other words to describe it. I can’t imagine what this will do to our lives. It will change it quite a lot."

Lynda - who celebrated her birthday just days before - added: "I’m speechless. It’s not sunk in yet."

Reg and Lynda shared £1 Million with another neighbour in Harlow after CM18 6ES landed the lottery’s weekly Millionaire Street prize today. Every ticket was worth £333,333.

Their win comes six weeks to the day since another three neighbours bagged £1 Million in nearby postcode CM20 3QT. That follows on from another Harlow postcode which bagged the same prize almost exactly two years earlier when 11 neighbours shared £1 Million in CM18 6QT.

Reg told how his job with the 129-year-old firm W. Larkins Ltd, which he took over in the 1970s, landed him a starring role in TV shows and even earned him TWO prized Blue Peter badges.

The most famous stunt was when he helped fearless presenter John Noakes climb the 169ft Nelson’s Column without safety equipment for an iconic episode of the children’s show in 1977.

Reg said: "I helped John Noakes of Blue Peter climb to the top of Nelson’s Column. That was quite an achievement. More so for him than it was for me."

Three years later, he was back on hand to assist Noakes’ successor Peter Duncan to scale the 315ft Big Ben and clean the clock faces - again with no safety harnesses.

Reg said: "He climbed over the parapet of Big Ben with no safety harness… just my guidance. He followed me down and cleaned the clock faces."

And in the 80s, he safely got entertainer Gary Wilmot to the top of Nelson’s Column for tea on a London-based telly programme, called The Six O’Clock Show.

Reg said: "There was a little table and a couple of chairs up there and proper crockery set out.

"I’m not in the official Guinness World Records, but apparently no one has climbed Nelson’s Column more than I have."

The highest structure he ever climbed was a power station chimney near the Dartford Crossing.

He said: "It was 650 feet high and I had to go up and change the navigation lights. I never had safety harnesses on that job either. I had a sack on my back with a big load of bulbs. It was a really scary job.

"I was doing another job on a chimney once and saw a storm coming over. I thought I would go inside the chimney. I could hear the static crackling on the lightning conductor above our heads."

He added: "I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. People say it’s a really dangerous job and how could I do it. But a job is only dangerous if you make it like that. Common sense in those days was a priority. You didn’t rely on health and safety equipment in those days."

Reg and Lynda still travel round the country testing lightning conductors on churches - but that may change after their wins.

He said: "We’ve got relatives in Canada and straight away on the list will be to visit them.

"We have thoughts and dreams about various things, and this will make them come true - like a new car and holidays."

He laughed: "A nice family saloon, I would have thought. Like a Bentley or something like that."

He added: "We’ve worked hard all our lives. Because we’ve always been working all this time, we’ve had the money to do things. Anything we wanted to do, we did it and anything we needed, we bought it."

The couple were delighted to learn that local charities will benefit from their win.

Lynda and Reg relax after their wins

Reg said: "We do support quite a lot of charities, but it is always nice to know that this is helping them as well."

And one of the organisations, Mind in West Essex, has received a funding boost of £75,000.

Alison Wilson, CEO of Mind in West Essex, said: "We are excited and grateful to be receiving this funding from players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

"It will enable us to put the finishing touches to the new Mind Sanctuary in Potter Street and make it a comfortable and calm space for local people.

"The funding will also help us to deliver a variety of valuable mental health services that may have otherwise been at risk of closure.

"Thanks to Postcode Lottery players, we will continue to ensure West Essex is a place where everyone has the opportunity to experience good mental health, access the support they need and feel hopeful about the future."
