A Scotland fan is planning to buy tickets for the nation's long-awaited World Cup return this summer - after scooping a £52,631 Postcode Lottery prize.

"I've got flights and accommodation booked, but I'm just lacking the tickets. This win will certainly help."

Ryan Stewart was only 11 years old when the Tartan Army last travelled to the finals of a World Cup, in France in 1998.

The dad-of-two had already booked flights to the US and accommodation just to soak up the atmosphere.

Ryan won £52,631 when KY11 8GW in Dunfermline landed today's Millionaire Street prize.

But now he's planning to make it the trip of a lifetime by splashing out on tickets for Scotland's group games.

Ryan, who works for Network Rail, said some of the money will also go towards getting the kitchen done up.

Back of the net

Sheila Allison and husband Hamish will use some of her winnings celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary at the World Cup in the USA too.

"It's our 40th anniversary so we're going to go to the World Cup in America - very romantic."

The couple got married during the 1986 World Cup and four decades on they'll be following the Scotland team on their travels to Boston and Miami.

Hamish said they already have tickets to see Scotland take on Morocco and are hoping to get more.

Sheila said she also liked the fact that money goes to good causes.

Winning together

Ryan was among 17 neighbours celebrating when their street landed the Millionaire Street prize.

Each ticket was worth £52,631. One person trebled their win to £157,893, thanks to playing with three tickets.

All the neighbours were delighted to hear that their street’s win means local charities have also benefitted.

The Pars Foundation has been awarded £80,000 thanks to Postcode Lottery players.

General Manager Kelly Armstrong said: "£80,000 will impact so many lives in Dunfermline... and that’s our mission to enhance the lives of people in our community."

The charity supports communities across Dunfermline and West Fife through programmes that improve health, wellbeing, and access to opportunities.

Other charities receiving funding include:

Home-Start Dunfermline - £50,000

Dunfermline Foodbank - £50,000

Deserving Causes

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Community Trust which supports smaller charities and good causes to make a difference to local communities.

Players aren't the only ones who benefit from People's Postcode Lottery. A minimum of 30% of each ticket price goes to charities and good causes. Thanks to our fantastic players, more than £1.5 Billion has been raised for thousands of deserving projects.
