Chaldon Millionaire Street
A stunned gran says she’s living through ‘the week you never, ever dream of’ after scooping £250,000 on People’s Postcode Lottery - just 24 hours after her husband took his final dose of blood cancer medication.
Champagne in hand, Christabel Fanucci raised a glass following her huge windfall then toasted hubby Giancarlo after his year-long blood cancer struggle came to an end.
The Fanuccis, who also marked their 40th wedding anniversary this year, are in full celebration mode after a string of amazing news.
They plan to use some of their winnings on a big family holiday to a dreamy villa - with their four children and eight grandchildren.
It was double delight for the Fanuccis after Gian’s good news Christabel, of Chaldon, Surrey, said: "It’s been a week that I never, ever dreamt of, not in a million years. I said to Gian, ‘this doesn’t happen to us.’"
She added: "My husband finished medication yesterday for blood cancer. It was his last day of medication. We're celebrating that tonight as well."
Giancarlo added: "It's a big relief and now this! There'll be even more champagne tonight."
Christabel toasts her hubby Gian and her £250,000 bumper winChristabel and three neighbours in Chaldon shared the lottery’s £1 Million Millionaire Street prize when CR3 5PT was announced as today's winner. Each winning ticket was worth £250,000.
It’s the fifth postcode to win £1 Million this week. Two more winning postcodes will be announced this weekend - Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November.
Christabel was playing a popular mobile game when she heard the doorbell ring.
She said: "I was sitting down playing Candy Crush and Gian said, ‘they’re here, the Postcode Lottery!’
"I said, ‘don’t be silly’, and then ding-dong! A Postcode Lottery team were standing there. Then it was all real."
The couple were stunned when the winning sum was revealed Christabel instantly messaged the family group chat, named Fan Fam, and it exploded with messages after she told them how much she’d won.
The couple, who have also celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year, want to treat their 21-strong family clan to a holiday at a large villa.
Italian Giancarlo said: "We could rent a villa for all the family in Italy, Greece, or France. That would be really nice."
He added: "Chris mentioned the Maldives, because we’ve never been there before, but if we do that, it’ll be just us going."
Christabel and Giancarlo have lived in their 100-year-old home since 1983 - and the windfall means a full roof refurbishment.
Giancarlo, who worked as a builder by trade, and later got into property development, said: "The roof needs to be repaired… we can get that done now."

Chuckling Christabel said: "Our son lives in Berlin, and he was over at the weekend and decided to pop into a local jeweller. He took a picture of a Rolex and said, ‘Can I get this one? It’s a good investment.’
"And one of our daughters has recently moved to a house in Yorkshire, which needs a bit of work. She’s been browsing kitchen cupboards in B&Q this morning."
Giancarlo says their priority will always be to help their loving family and they’ll do just that with their winnings.
He said: "Our daughter needs help to refurbish her house, and the rest of the family will all get some money as well.
Christabel added: "And then we’ll enjoy the rest."
