Rugby Millionaire Street

A stunned carer will fulfil a dream of belting out Frank Sinatra hit ‘New York, New York’ in the middle of Times Square - after winning £250,000 on People’s Postcode Lottery.

New York calling

Smiling woman holds a £250,000 Postcode Lottery winner’s cheque on a residential street.

"My mum loved Frank Sinatra, she was always his biggest fan. We had lots of Frank Sinatra in the house growing up and obviously the song 'New York' every time we went to a party."

Rachel O’Gorman has always wanted to visit the Big Apple to dance and croon like her mum’s favourite Ol’ Blue Eyes.

Rachel and two neighbours shared £1 Million when CV23 1AT in Rugby landed today's Millionaire Street prize. Each ticket was worth £250,000. The biggest winner scooped £500,000, thanks to playing with two tickets.

Another bucket list dream

Smiling woman holds a giant £250,000 Postcode Lottery cheque as a man in a red coat celebrates beside her on a suburban street.

Jumping for joy, Rachel shouted at the top of her voice: “I can buy my house! I can buy my house!”

"If I could buy my house and have that security, that would be amazing. Just those little things mean everything."

Family first

Her sister Ginny says Rachel has rarely allowed herself to slow down.

Ginny said: “She’s never stopped. I’m so happy for her.”

Rachel said: “The first thing I’m going to do is tell my family. They’ll be absolutely ecstatic. Going out for dinner to celebrate with all of them will be lovely.”

"I’m going to do wise decisions. I don’t normally do sensible, so this is really good for me."

Charities have benefitted

“Anything for charity is just amazing. Little charities need that extra help and support.”

Rachel was overjoyed to hear that her street’s win means that local charities have also benefitted.

And one organisation, The Air Ambulance Service, based in Rugby, has been awarded £80,000 thanks to Postcode Lottery players.

It operates helicopter emergency medical services under the name 'Your Local Air Ambulance' covering Warwickshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Owen Morris, The Air Ambulance Service Strategic Communications Manager, said: "Thanks to players of Postcode Lottery, this funding will help us to continue to deliver critical care from the ground to the air and make a real difference to those who need us."

Deserving Causes

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode International Trust which has a mission to support the creation of sustainable solutions that alleviate poverty, hunger and enable food security.

Players aren't the only ones who benefit from People's Postcode Lottery. A minimum of 30% of each ticket price goes to charities and good causes. Thanks to our fantastic players, more than £1.5 Billion has been raised for thousands of deserving projects.
