Grow Your Own With Emmerdale - Week 3

This week in our collaboration with Emmerdale, we show you how easy it is to grow radishes at home.
Jonny McPherson and Emmerdale Gardeners Jo and Lisa, Growing Your Own With Emmerdale - Spring 2022

For this instalment of our 'Grow Your Own With Emmerdale' series, Lisa and Jo have been hard at work in the Emmerdale allotment and Jonny has caught up with Jo to find out how you can grow your own radishes at home.

Watch the video below to hear some great tips from Jonny and Jo and see how you can recycle bits and pieces that you might find around the home, or in their case on the Emmerdale set, to grow radishes at home this year. Don't forget to check out the radish fact sheet from the Emmerdale allotment team for some more tips!

Radiant Radishes!

If you are looking for a quick growing, versatile container crop then radishes could be the answer. Grown throughout different points of the year you have the potential for a fairly consistent crop.

In a similar fashion to carrots (featured in Week 2), radishes are mainly grown for their beautiful pink or reddish roots. Did you know that you can also use the leaves to make some tasty sides by sautéing or blending into a soup or a pesto?

In this week's video Jonny catches up with Jo, who will show him the best way for growing delicious, refreshing radishes at home. All you'll need is a container, a flat surface, and a sunny spot by the window, or in your garden.
