Street Prize

Brilliant Day For Birmingham

01 June 2019 - B29 4PY - Birmingham - £30,000

There were big celebrations today for one lucky Birmingham resident. The windfall came for Robel, who lives in Ascot Court, after his postcode, B29 4PY, was drawn as a winner of our Saturday Street Prize.

Robel was speechless when he found out how much he had won. Knowing that the People's Postcode Lottery team were coming to visit, he hadn't slept in three days. He exclaimed, "When I found out I was going to get a visit I couldn't sleep - I then told my brother, so he couldn't sleep either! I had no idea I would win this much. I will definitely get a good night's sleep tonight!"

A New Chapter

Robel is going to use the prize money to buy a house and start a new chapter in his life. He said, "I feel like this is the beginning of a new life for me. I can finally buy myself a house, I can't believe it. All I can say is wow!" The celebrations began straight away for Robel. He said, "I will be taking my family out to celebrate tonight. Dinner will definitely be on me!"

Whilst Robel was over the moon with his winnings, the reason he signed up to play was actually to support charities. He added, "I signed up because some of the money from my ticket supports lots of different good causes. I already support charities that provide people with clean water, so I was pleased to hear some of my money will help towards charities like WaterAid, amongst many others."

Presenting Robel with his prize was People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Danyl Johnson. He said, "It was lovely to meet Robel and present him with a big cheque! I'm so pleased that he will be able to buy a house for himself and I hope he has a great time celebrating with his friends and family."

Charities Big and Small

With 32% of the ticket price going to charities and good causes, players of People's Postcode Lottery have helped raise more than £427 Million for thousands of projects and groups across the world.

This draw was promoted on behalf of Royal National Institute of Blind People, which has received over £1 Million thanks to player support. The charity is one of the UK's leading sight loss charities and the largest community of blind and partially sighted people.

Local charities benefit from player support too. Last year Oasis Community Partnerships Hobmoor received £12,981 to run a job club for adults who do not speak fluent English and lack formal qualifications, allowing them to gain literacy and IT skills.

With fantastic Prizes announced every single day, you wouldn't want to miss out on all the fun! If you're not playing yet, sign up to play today for your chance at a win, or learn more about us in our How It Works guide.

Also celebrating this weekend, we had happy winners at the party for our second May Postcode Millions draw and more Street Prize winners on Sunday.
