Cash For Colchester
Six neighbours in Colchester are having a fantastic Tuesday after sharing £210,000 thanks to their lucky postcode. The win comes after CO4 0NY was announced as a winner of our #30KADAY Street Prize today.
Five of the players scooped £30,000 each, with the sixth taking home £60,000 because he played with two tickets.
Richard was our doubly-lucky player who won a whopping £60,000. He learned about his prize during a video call with Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier.
Richard was joined on the call by his wife Tracy, and was lost for words when his cheque was revealed. He said, "Oh my goodness! I'm speechless. This is absolutely amazing." He added, "I think we're both completely overwhelmed by this. Things like this just don't happen to us and after the year we've had this is really a great start to 2021!"
He and Tracy plan to use some of their winnings on house renovations but are also looking to book a very much-needed holiday for later in the year.
Next up to receive their cheque was Caroline, an insurance underwriter. She was overjoyed when Jeff revealed her cheque for £30,000, exclaiming, "Wowsers! Thank you so much, this is awesome!"
Caroline would like to head off on a big holiday when travel restrictions are lifted and is keen to visit Mauritius with her partner Matt. Caroline said, "A holiday is definitely top of my list but I'd also like to treat myself to a designer handbag as well."
Caroline, who signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery due to the number of Charities she'd be supporting, was delighted to hear that her neighbours had also won and thinks the win will be great for the whole community spirit.
Another lucky winner was Doreen, who was joined by her husband Nigel. She was stunned when she saw her cheque for £30,000, and felt very emotional when the amount was revealed. She said, "Oh wow this is amazing! This is honestly life-changing money for us. This is absolutely wonderful."
Like their neighbour Caroline, Doreen and Nigel are hoping to travel later in the year, and were delighted to hear about their neighbours' good news. Nigel added, "We have a lovely little community so it's just great to hear that some of our neighbours have won too."
A Great Start
The final winner of the day was Colin. Colin, who is married to Jan, plans to use some of his £30,000 prize to help his granddaughter travel to New Zealand for her gap year. He exclaimed, "Wow! This is amazing, I feel so lucky! This year has definitely started better than we thought it would."
Aside from helping his granddaughter with her trip of a lifetime, Colin would also like to buy some new kitchen appliances and take a trip to Wimborne with Jan and visit her sister. Although Colin and his family aren't able to come together just yet and celebrate his win, he's hopeful that they'll all be together soon for a big party.
After the call, Jeff Brazier shared his congratulations with the winners, saying, "What amazing news this is for our players from Colchester! It was great meeting them all virtually and I hope they enjoy spending their winnings. It sounds like there will be a few corks being popped around Colchester this evening!"
