Postcode Millions

Terrific Time In Torquay

02 July - TQ2 8QH - Torquay - £3 Million

Neighbours in picturesque Torquay had the surprise of their lives after the June Postcode Millions landed in their streets. Players from the full winning postcode TQ2 8QH were overjoyed to discover they had won the lion's share of a huge £3 Million prize pot.

Ian Wallace hadn't won just once, but twice, as he played with two tickets – meaning he walked away with an outstanding £379,076.

Ian said the win would change his and his family's life forever, "We had absolutely no idea what we might win but I can honestly say I never imagined anything like this. My son is marrying the love of his life next year, so this money means they can have the wedding and honeymoon of their dreams.

"It's life-changing, simple as that. It's a phrase that gets thrown around a bit but in this case it's very much real. I can pay off my mortgage, look after my family, and take my wife on a honeymoon of our own! We've been married for years but we couldn't afford one at the time so now's our chance.

"I'm so happy for all my neighbours, we were all looking out our windows this morning as doors were getting knocked. To say it was exciting is an understatement! It's great that it's not just me winning but all of us together – it makes it a lot more special!"

Another family on the street who had their day made were the Hills. Bryan and his wife, Irene, both play with their own tickets. It means they both scooped a fantastic £189,538 each.

Bryan said the the win hadn't quite sunk in yet, "When Judie first pulled my cheque out of the gold envelope and I saw how much I'd won – it seemed totally unreal, like a dream. This is a life-changing amount that has brought a rollercoaster of emotion with it.

"After we moved back from Cyprus and we promised ourselves we would continue to travel the world – we have a whole list of places we want to visit. This year it looked like we'd be going somewhere a little bit closer to home but now we can go anywhere. The top of our list is to visit the Golden Triangle – and we'll definitely be going now."

Three other lucky players on Bowerland Avenue in Torquay also received a visit from Judie McCourt today. Brian Braybrooke-Palmer, Barbara Salter, and Eddie Weatherley all won £189,538 each.

People's Postcode Lottery Ambassador Judie McCourt said, "The sun might have been shining in Torquay this morning but it was raining money for our lucky players in TQ2 8QH! They were such a lovely bunch of people and are even having a party to celebrate together. I hope Irene and Bryan have the trip of a lifetime - and I hope they are going first class."

With a minimum of 30% going to good causes across Great Britain and internationally, players of People's Postcode Lottery have so far raised over £129 Million for charities and good causes.

Good causes near Torquay that have benefited from support by players of People's Postcode Lottery include Moor Trees. Earlier this year, they received over £18,000 for their Planting New Native Woodland project.

Also this weekend, Havant scooped a Saturday Street Prize, five players in Huntly each collected £25,000 cheques, one lucky Swansea player won £10,000 and a BMW, and our incredible Dream Holiday prize was won in Middleton.
