Postcode Millions

Three Cheers For Cleethorpes

02 March 2024 - DN35 7UG - Cleethorpes - £3.2 Million

A total of 1,121 people in Cleethorpes are celebrating this weekend after we revealed their postcode area of DN35 7 as the winner of our latest £3.2 Million Postcode Millions prize.

Nine people playing with the full winning postcode, which was announced as DN35 7UG, scored the biggest cheques.

The biggest winner landed £436,362, thanks to playing with three tickets. The other eight Campden Crescent neighbours bagged £145,454 each.

The remaining 1,112 residents in the area received cheques ranging from £1,306 to £3,918 depending on how many tickets they played with.

Catch Of The Day

An excited Kayleigh was left reeling after landing her £145,454 cheque. And her dad also managed to hook a tiddler when he won £2,612.

Kayleigh, of Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, said, "I thought I'd maybe win enough to get my windows done but never in a million years did I ever think I'd win this much.

"This is life-changing for us. It'll make life a bit more comfortable."

The mum-of-two was at home when People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt knocked on her door with the surprise of a lifetime.

But her husband Guy was manning his fish stall at a market near London and found out how much she'd pocketed over a video call.

When Kayleigh revealed the winning cheque to him on FaceTime, he exclaimed, "Jesus! I can't believe that."

Guy refused to believe that she'd won big after Kayleigh received a call from us earlier that week.

She said, "My husband was sceptical and said I shouldn't get my hopes up. Now he isn't! He'll need to be careful driving home after seeing that."

Kayleigh, who works at a local primary school, said a seemingly ordinary week turned strange when she got the call and ran into the headteacher's office.

She excitedly told her boss, "The Postcode Lottery are on the phone and have said I've won something. Can I have the day off so they can come to my door?"

Following her massive windfall, she said, "It's been a strange week, to say the least. My head is still spinning."

Now the duo plan a sun-soaked getaway with their two children, Elias and Isaac.

She said, "We can get the work done on the house that we need to do and take the boys on an amazing holiday."

To add to the excitement in their household, their two sons will soon be welcoming home a puppy.

Kayleigh said, "We're getting a French Bulldog puppy - named Nala - in a few weeks, so that's the pup paid for."

The stunning win means more dog toys for their new four-legged friend and Manchester United-daft Issac has asked his mum for a pair of football boots.

Kayleigh had even more to celebrate when she discovered that her dad Duncan was one of the 1,112 people in the winning postcode sector. And because he played with two tickets he doubled his prize to £2,612.

Bill-Iant Win

Another lucky £145,454 winner was Bill, who said he'll finally ditch his bent garden fork for a new one.

The gobsmacked gardener said, "We used to win a few prizes for our vegetables, but this is a prize I never expected to win."

Bill, who grows veg in an allotment with his wife Christine, added, "It's beyond my wildest dreams. People like us don't just come into that sort of money."

The pensioner was delighted for all the winners and said the £3.2 Million win would lift the town's spirits.

Bill, who worked as a fish auctioneer among other jobs, said, "It'll put smiles on a lot of faces in Cleethorpes.

"The fishing industry is gone, and with it went some of the large factories, like Birds Eye, and it really hit the town hard. I'm so glad that the town has had some luck."

Now Bill and Christine are planning a bucket-list trip to Japan, a new driveway, and treating their family.

Bill said, "There's so many things we can do now but tonight I think we'll have a Chinese and break open a bottle of champagne."

Memorable Birthday Treat

NHS nurse Lesley was left in disbelief after bagging her six-figure sum.

A bemused Lesley said, "I wonder what the bank will think when this goes into my account. It's not sunk in yet. I think until it does, we can go on a nice holiday."

Lesley plans to make her husband Nigel's birthday even more memorable.

She said, "He loves his golf and we had looked at a golf resort in Warwick for his 60th birthday, but I think we might upgrade a bit now."

Lesley also wants to spoil her grandchildren with her cash windfall.

The mum-of-two said, "My two grandkids want a climbing frame and a swing set for the garden, so they'll definitely get that now."

Wheely Great

Another winner was Bill B who is going to buy a new motor with his new-found wealth.

After he caught sight of his prize cheque, he exclaimed, "Bloody hell! That's lovely. I can even buy a new car because my car is an old banger."

He quipped, "I'm a modest guy - just a Porsche or Lamborghini will do."

Local good causes close to the winners in Cleethorpes also have benefited from money raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery.

Cudox Wellbeing CIC in Grimsby received £25,000 last year to provide free and subsidised therapy to people suffering hardship to ensure they received crucial support.

People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt said, "I'm so thrilled for all our lucky players who've bagged themselves a prize today in Cleethorpes!

"With so many people winning, I'm sure there will be plenty of celebrations taking place this weekend. Congratulations Cleethorpes!"
