Celebrations In Yarnscombe

04 August 2019 - EX31 3LW - Yarnscombe - £30,000

In July's draws, there's staggering £30,000 Street Prizes revealed every single day. Today, Lady Luck has dropped into postcode EX31 3LW in Yarnscombe. Seven neighbours have collected amazing £30,000 prizes. One winner, Maureen, who plays with three tickets, picked up a whopping £90,000. All the best to our lucky winners!

Butterflies In Her Tummy

Talking about the moment she discovered how much she'd won, Maureen said, "I was shaking from head to toe and had butterflies in my tummy.

"I live a simple life and it doesn't take much to make me happy, so I'll be celebrating by going for a drive and having some fish and chips. I'll be toasting with battered cod instead of champagne!"

Maureen also plans to use her windfall to support local charities in the community, including one very close to her heart. She said, "My husband Alan passed away in 2012 and North Devon Hospice were a fantastic support to us towards the end of his life. They were so good to us and I've stayed in contact with them and send the eggs from my 15 hens over to them so they can sell them. It would be nice to share a little bit of the luck I've had today with them. Our local church is also fundraising for a new kitchen and could do with some help, so they'll win out of this, too.

"I'll also help out my family, including my two grandchildren and my great granddaughter. I'll be giving them a little bit at a time, so they don't squander it and anything that I have leftover I'll put aside for a rainy day."

Feeling Very Lucky

Shaun, another winner, was joined by his wife Sharon when he received a knock on his door from our Street Prize team. He said, "This is unbelievable, and I feel very lucky right now. This money gives us the freedom to do things that we wouldn't have been otherwise able to do, like get a new car and go on lots of holidays.

"It's great to win with some many of our neighbours. Hopefully we can all get together at some point and celebrate with a drink."

As the remaining winners couldn't be there to collect their prizes in person, their cheques will be paid directly into their bank accounts.

Deserving Causes Across Britain

With People's Postcode Lottery, 32% of the ticket price goes to charities and good causes. To date, players have raised more than £450 Million for thousands of deserving projects across Great Britain as well as internationally.

Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Postcode Support Trust. Established in 2015, this Trust provides funding to charities and good causes across Britain that are supporting older people to participate fully in their community, helping them to live happy and more fulfilled lives.

Players also support smaller charities across Britain. TRIP Community Transport Association, one organisation close to the winners, received £18,000 last year to help run its befriending programme which aims to reduce the loneliness that older people living in rural locations can experience.
