Win In Wellington

05 February 2022 - TA21 8TE - Wellington - £30,000

Six neighbours in Wellington are having a weekend to remember after each winning a whopping £30,000 with their postcode. The lucky Postcode Lottery players netted the cash after TA21 8TE was announced as today's Street Prize winner.

Dream Cruise

Getting a knock on her door from Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson was a big surprise for Lorna. On seeing how much she'd won when he unveiled her cheque, she gasped and said, "No?! Oh my God. Oh, this is life-changing for me. This is real? I thought even if it was £50 it would be fun. I can't believe it, thank you so much."

The former professional dancer and dance instructor couldn't believe her luck. She said, "I've performed on stage in front of thousands of people, but I've never been as nervous as I was today. I'm just so excited, I'm actually shaking. I've never won anything in my life!

"I'm a pensioner on pension credits, and I support my daughter and two grandchildren as well, so this is going to help."

The first thing Lorna planned to do was celebrate with her daughter. She added, "I'm going to buy a bottle of wine, take it to my daughter's and enjoy! I'm going to go there right away - they live just around the corner.

"This means I can help my grandchildren and my daughter. She's a single mum and she works at the hospital. She'll be elated. The eldest one has just turned nineteen and just gone to university. I'll help her out with the fees and books and things. The little one does horse riding, so I'll buy the uniforms and pay for the lessons."

A treat for herself was also on the cards. She explained, "It means I can spend a little bit on myself as well. All my life I've spent helping the children and I've never done anything for myself, so this will be fabulous just to treat myself.

"I'm going to go on a cruise. I want to go somewhere warm so maybe the Caribbean. The fjords have always fascinated me, but I'll need to go in the summertime! Or the Greek isles, I've been there before and absolutely loved it. My granddaughter is studying archaeology, so she'll want to go with me because there's so much history there."

Over The Moon

Among our other winners were couple Leslie and Linda, who each scooped a cheque for £30,000. Linda burst into laughter when she saw her prize, and Leslie said, "I'm over the moon. It's life-changing."

Leslie, a limo driver, wasn't sure how they might spend their windfall. He said, "I'll put it in the bank for the time being, then we'll book a holiday and go off for a week or a month, see how we get on really." Linda agreed and added, "I'm going to take my time and think about what I want to do. I could get something or go on an adventure or something like that. It's going to be good."

The couple had a special destination in mind. Leslie said, "Mauritius is lovely, I've been there but a long time ago, but Linda really wants to go there." Linda then joked, "I'll just tag along!"

Leslie and Linda will definitely be celebrating their good fortune, and when asked what they'd do first, Leslie exclaimed, "We'll go to the pub, I reckon!"

Matt Johnson was in Wellington to hand out the golden envelopes. He said, "What an absolute pleasure it was to meet Lorna, Leslie and Linda and present them with this fantastic surprise. It sounds like they've got some lovely plans for their winnings, and I hope they have an amazing time spending the cash."
