Clifton Cashes In
It's the final week of our wonderful #30KADAY daily Street Prize windfalls. £30,000 prizes are kickstarting a terrific 2020 for players every single day. Today, six lucky Clifton neighbours are celebrating after scooping a share of £180,000 thanks to playing People's Postcode Lottery. The win came for the Waterdown Road residents when their postcode, NG11 9LB, was announced as a winner of our £30,000 Street Prize.
One of our winners was Marilyn. She said, "My knees were shaking when I saw how much money I'd won - and they're still shaking! I've won smaller cash prizes from People's Postcode Lottery over the past couple of years, £10 here and there, but this is the biggest amount I have ever won.
"I have one daughter and two grandchildren so I'm definitely going to treat them all, and I'd also love a holiday at some point. But what I really want to treat myself to is a DNA test. I was adopted as a baby and I've managed to trace my family history back to the 1600s, but I'd really like to find out what makes me me and find that final piece of the puzzle. I'm just thrilled that I've won as I've never been very lucky at winning in the past. It's great to know the money goes towards good causes but winning myself is definitely a bonus!"
Marilyn's neighbour Robert was another player who netted a £30,000 cheque. He said, "I only started playing in August. I'm speechless really, things like this never happen on this road but it's a fantastic surprise.
"I have two grandchildren and two daughters that I'll be treating. My grandson has also asked to go to Legoland, so that's on the list. Winning this amount of money is life-changing for our family. It makes a big difference and takes the sting out of knowing I won't have to work much longer. I will continue to play as it's great knowing we're helping local causes."
Another lucky winner was Timothy. He said, "Being part of this win is just fantastic. I'll leave the spending to my wife, but we have a son and daughter who we'll treat. Winning with your neighbours makes this extra special so we will be celebrating with a drink tonight for sure. It's a good feeling to help charities but also to win yourself."
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt was on Waterdown Road to hand out the winning cheques. She said, "It's been an absolute pleasure meeting our winners in Clifton! It's always so exciting to see our players' faces when they find out what they've won, and this will hopefully kickstart their year in the best way possible!
"It was also interesting to hear from Marilyn about her DNA test, and Robert and Timothy's plans to treat their families. It's thanks to players like this that we can continually support local charities and causes, so in the end, everyone's a winner."
