The weekend is off to a sensational start for six neighbours in Lincoln after their postcode, LN6 0XJ, got lucky in today's Street Prize. Each of the residents netted a cheque for £30,000!
Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt was in Lincoln to meet a few of our winners.
A Dream Come True
Among our winners was Sharon. On seeing her prize Sharon gasped while her partner Steve exclaimed, "Bloody hell, £30,000! I can't even describe it." Sharon added, "£30,000?! Oh fantastic. It's brilliant."
The couple were quick to think of plans for their winnings as they are currently renovating their home and hope to buy a new house in the future. Sharon said, "We're wanting to move so this can go to the new place. Definitely a new bungalow." Steve added, "Like everyone else, we haven't had a holiday in two years, so we'll be thinking of that for next year as well.
"We got married two and half years ago and our dream destination was the Maldives so we'll go there. Two weeks of perfection again."
When asked what the win means for the couple, Steve responded, "It's like a dream come true, you just think it won't happen to you, but it does and it's amazing.
"We're breathless, I don't know what to say."
Another lucky winner was Adam, who was left stunned at how much he'd won. He exclaimed, "Oh my God, you're kidding?!" An emotional Adam added, "I wasn't expecting that. You see it and don't think it will ever happen to you, but obviously it has. It's a big shock but it's amazing."
Adam had some thoughts on how he might use his windfall. He said, "We're looking at getting a new kitchen, so this is going to help with that."
There was also a big family treat that Adam was hoping to use the winnings towards. He explained, "We'd love to spend some on a lodge that we can let the whole family use for a holiday and share."
Adam was thrilled to hear that many of his neighbours had also picked up prizes. He said, "It's great to share the good fortune. We know all the neighbours and all get on very well, it's nice to live around here."
Neighbour Richard also scooped a £30,000 cheque. On seeing his prize he exclaimed, "Wow! Wow! That is fantastic. I've never won anything like that before."
Richard had travel on his mind for his winnings. He added, "When travel opens up a bit a holiday may not be a bad thing!
"I'd like to go back to Cape Town and have a proper look around the southern coast of South Africa. I'd love to go across the mountain railways in Switzerland. Maybe one of those could happen!"
Judie McCourt congratulated our winners and said, "What a nice surprise to start your Saturday! I am so pleased for our winners in Lincoln today, it was so nice to meet them and hear about their plans. It sounds like there will be plenty of holidays so I hope our winners can get away soon and enjoy treating themselves with their winnings."
