Feeling Good In Borehamwood

13 August - WD6 1TL - Borehamwood - £25,000

Four players from Borehamwood are celebrating after winning big today.

The neighbours from Meadow Road scooped one of the Saturday Street Prizes after their postcode WD6 1TL was drawn as a winner.

Joe Jupp, a traffic management operative, was at home with his girlfriend Sam when Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson turned up at their door.

"I just can't believe I've won £25,000 – it is honestly the best shock I've had all year!

"We've just booked a holiday to Morocco so now we'll be able to do it in style. It also means I'll have enough for a deposit to get on the property ladder so when I say this win has changed my life, it really has."

Tina McDonald, a payroll clerk, and her partner Lee Goodrum, a truck driver, each play with their own ticket so they shared a whopping prize of £50,000.

Lee said they were both over the moon to discover they had won. "Words just can't describe how we're both feeling right now - we're both as happy as Larry.

"We'll be able to pay a few bills and have a great time. Tina's car is about six years old so we'll be looking for an upgrade too.

"I joined up when I heard about all the brilliant charities that players support. You can really see the difference that the money raised makes locally in your own community and that's amazing."

The other winner was unavailable to receive their cheque, but their winnings will be deposited directly into their bank account.

Over £135 Million has been raised to date by players for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project that players have supported near Borehamwood is the Herts Sport & Wellbeing Foundation, which received over £19,000 in 2015 for their project Hertfordshire's Big Hit. John O'Callaghan, CEO of the Foundation, said, "Support from players of People's Postcode Lottery meant that we were able to launch a fantastic project, 'Hertfordshire's Big Hit'. The project aims to reduce the number of reported incidents of anti-social behaviour and crime amongst young people by getting them involved in sport - in this case, boxing.

"We've improved the physical and mental health of young offenders whilst increasing their self-confidence and self-esteem, and will continue to do so. Without players of People's Postcode Lottery, this wouldn't have been possible so from all of us: thank you."

There were also some happy players in Gildersome this weekend, as the other Saturday Street Prize landed in LS27 7DA.
