What A Win For Hemlington

After years of pranking his grandkids about winning People's Postcode Lottery, Bill's dreams turned to reality when he received a knock at the door and cheques for £35,000. The pranking pensioner was one of four neighbours in Hemlington to win a share of £140,000 with People's Postcode Lottery.

The lottery winners on Coate Close each landed £30,000 and a £5,000 holiday prize when their postcode, TS8 9RA, was announced as a winner today.

The residents winning £30,000 and £5,000 cheques included:

• Bill, who used to prank his granddaughters about winning the lottery has had his dreams come true.
• John, who is finally planning a cruise to the Caribbean.
• Marion, who wants to return to the island of Paros with her husband Ian.

A Dream Come True

Grandad-of-two Bill scooped prizes totalling £35,000. Bill said, "Get in! It's a dream come true this, because you tend to think people like us don't win this, but it's happened now."

His wife Jean added, "We are just normal people and things like this just don't happen. It is like a dream, a dream come true - we're absolutely gobsmacked.

"For years, we used to wind the grandkids up and say, 'the Postcode Lottery have been knocking on our door'. Well, they're not going to believe me tonight when we go over to tell them because it's actually happened.

"Family means everything to us, and we can treat our family and not just ourselves with this money. One of grandkids is going to be 18 in December and she's doing her driving lessons, so we'll be able to help her."

The couple are also jetting off to sunnier climates thanks to their windfall. Bill said, "We like the Caribbean, but Mexico might be our number one choice."

On Top Of The World

Another winner was John who is planning a long-awaited cruise after holiday cancellations. The pensioner exclaimed, "I feel on top of the world!

"Our last cruise got cancelled because of COVID - we only got as far as Heathrow. Now we can go to the Caribbean and not have to worry about if we can afford it or not."

His wife Carol added, "It means a lot because we're both retired, things are going up, everything is getting expensive. It makes you feel like you can relax now.

"We'll also give our six grandkids a treat!"

Champagne Celebration

Marion also pocketed £35,000 in prizes. She's lining up a return trip to the Greek island of Paros, a destination that she holds close to her heart, thanks to her £35,000 windfall. She said, "We'd love to go to Paros in the Greek islands. My daughter got married there and it's just stunning."

Marion's husband Ian said, "We really just fell in love with the island, and I think we'd really like to go back again.

"We've got some things we'd like to do with the house so this has come at a great time, and we can treat ourselves."

The mum-of-two was delighted that her neighbours had also won. She said, "We've got fantastic neighbours here, really lovely people, and we get on well with them. I'm really happy they've also won."

Ian added, "I've got some champagne in the garage, so we'll be digging that out."

People's Postcode Lottery Presenter Judie McCourt said, "A big congratulations to our four lucky winners in Hemlington! It was a glorious day surprising Marion, John and William! I hope they all enjoy celebrating tonight and have lots of fun jetting off on all those amazing holidays."
