Street Prize
Happy Days For Huddersfield
In Huddersfield today, two local players were ecstatic to find that their postcode, HD4 6DF, had won them a fantastic £25,000 each in our Saturday Street Prize.
Kenneth Giles was in shock after his big win. Kenneth said, "When the team at People's Postcode Lottery came to deliver a cheque, I thought it was going to be maybe one or two thousand, but when we pulled that cheque for £25,000 out I couldn't get over it!
"Growing up I was always a big fan of cowboys; my parents took me to the cinema to see all the Western movies and I just loved them. It's been a lifelong dream of mine to visit the USA and go on a cattle drive – this win means that my dream will finally be able to come true.
"I have two daughters and one has just bought a house, so I'll be able to help out with some of the fees which is great too. We're also big on animals in this family and that's part of the reason we signed up – after I saw all the amazing animal charities that the players of People's Postcode Lottery support, I knew I had to be a part of it."
Our second Huddersfield winner Robert Jay also has big plans for his whopping £25,000 win. "I never win anything – in fact I think this is the first time I've ever won anything! It's incredible, just unbelievable. I've just entered the dangerous stage of planning on how I might spend the money! We have two daughters, Emily and Isabel, so I think a holiday might be on the cards. Signing up only costs £10 a month and look at the prizes you could win."
Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £118 Million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally. Supported charities near Huddersfield include the Paddock Community Trust, which was awarded over £17,000 this year.
Simon Ashbee, Managing Director of the Trust, said, "Volunteers play a vital role in helping Paddock Community Trust deliver our community services. The award from People's Postcode Lottery is a major boost for our plans to develop a high quality volunteer centre here at Paddock Village Hall, which has been met with so much enthusiasm by our local community. We hope that this will allow us to gain national recognition for this work through the achievement of the Investing in Volunteers Award. We're absolutely thrilled with the funds and so grateful to players of People's Postcode Lottery for making this project happen."
Players in Hornchuch also won £25,000 Saturday Street Prizes this weekend.
