Street Prize

Second Lucky Day For Patchway

15 October 2017 - BS34 5EN - Patchway - £30,000

Two Patchway neighbours were stunned when they each scooped fantastic £30,000 Street Prizes for the second time in just seven months.

Lucky neighbours Nicholas Urch and Glenn Collins live just a few doors apart. Their first win was in March, when they were presented with £30,000 cheques from Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson.

This week, the lucky postcode, BS34 5EN, was visited once again. Three more of their neighbours, who'd signed up since the last win, were also winners!

Glenn and Nicholas were joined by new players: Steven Hirst, Kayleigh Dybowski, and Elaine Newton.

Nicholas said, "I am absolutely gobsmacked and flabbergasted! When I got a call from the team I assumed it was a follow-up call, and even when they told me I'd won another prize, I didn't expect it to be as much as last time.

"The money has helped me a lot with doing up the house, and I also treated myself and my brother to a holiday to Spain. Now that I've won again, I think we'll go somewhere further afield – we're thinking Vietnam."

Glenn said, "You never think you're going to win such a big prize – never mind twice! My wife Jane and I have been away on an incredible trip to Niagara Falls and New York since we won our prize the first time, and I think we might go on a Caribbean cruise next. It's amazing to be able to do it.

"We also got a conservatory put on the house with the money from the last win – it's still in the process of being built, which shows how recently it was. I'm delighted that more of our neighbours have joined and are now celebrating with us too."

Kayleigh lives next door to Nicholas, and is very grateful to him for the win. She said, "When I heard how much he won last time I thought 'I've got to do it'! I'm living with my boyfriend and his family at the moment, so this money is going to mean we'll be able to move out into our own place, which is very exciting."

Fellow first-time winner Steven said, "My next door neighbour won in March, unfortunately I missed out on the £30,000 then which was a bit gutting, but this makes up for it massively!"

Elaine said, "I'm absolutely over the moon for winning this amount, it's going to help me an awful lot. I just can't believe it! When my neighbours won before, I thought to myself that I should have signed up before that."

Danyl Johnson said, "I cannot believe I'm back in the same street in Patchway so soon! It just goes to show, it is worth signing up even if your postcode has had a big win recently – you never know when we'll be back with more cheques."

A minimum of 31% of the ticket price goes to charities. Players of People's Postcode Lottery have to date raised more than £237 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A local cause which has received support from players is the Keynsham Wombles. The charity was awarded £2,000 last year for an environmental project, aiming to keep the area free from litter to protect wildlife.

There was also a lucky win for one Bilston player, who scooped Saturday's £30,000 Street Prize.
