Marvellous Win In Morecambe
Seven neighbours from Morecambe have kicked off their weekend with a super surprise. Their winning postcode, LA4 4LS, landed each of them a magnificent £30,000 cheque.
Every day throughout our November draws we'll announce one postcode as a £30,000 Street Prize winner. Each player in that lucky postcode will win £30,000 for every ticket they hold.
Among our winners was Gemma, who was left stunned after Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson revealed her cheque. She exclaimed, "Oh my God, you're kidding me? Oh my word. I'm shaking!"
Gemma, who works as an administrator manager, already has some ideas for her prize money. Along with a deposit for a new house, a dream holiday might be on the cards. She said, "I've always wanted to go to New York. That's been a life goal so more than likely I'll do that. It would be an absolute dream. I'd aim to go at Christmas with the ice rink and the Rockefeller Centre tree, it's just magical, isn't it? It's quite an exciting prospect!"
Gemma joked about how much she loves the Christmas season, and she was already proudly displaying her festive decorations, including two Christmas trees. She said, "I'm known on the street as Mrs. Christmas, I always get my decorations up early. I might treat myself to some fancy posh ones!"
When asked what she plans to do first, Gemma said she'd call her fiancé and would celebrate. She added, "I'd imagine there will be a bottle of champagne coming out!"
With six of her neighbours also netting a prize, Gemma was thrilled for the community. She said, "It's just so nice to win with your neighbours, because you know them. Knowing that they're getting the same feeling that I've got now. We're just such a really nice tight-knit street, we're really good friends. It's lovely."
A second winner to receive a knock on their door from our team was Gail. She was joined by her partner Jason as her cheque was revealed and the couple gasped on seeing the total. Gail, a housekeeper, added, "It's a miracle to be honest. It's something I would never, ever have thought would happen. It's just something you think will never happen to yourselves."
The couple said they'd need to think about how to spend their windfall, though Jason joked that he's already toying with the idea of getting a new set of golf clubs. However, there was one thing they were sure of - a long-awaited family reunion. Jason said, "We can go see my mum now. She lives in North Cyprus and we haven't seen her for three years because of COVID." Gail added, "It'll be really nice to go and see her and not have to worry about what we're spending."
Gail said that some of the winnings will go towards her family, with her daughter and sister in line for a treat, and she had something in mind for herself, too. She explained, "I've always wanted the perfect back garden. I'm going to get that all sorted and get it ready for the spring next year. I'm going to get the professionals in. I've got it all planned!"
Get In There!
Michelle was another lucky winner and was overjoyed with her prize. On seeing her £30,000 cheque she jumped for joy and exclaimed, "Oh my God, get in there! I can't believe it!"
Michelle was left speechless as the news sank in and wasn't too sure how she might spend her winnings. While laughing she said, "Maybe a holiday. I'll get the house done as well and treat myself. I'll treat my mum and dad and give them a bit of money for Christmas, and give my husband a bit as well."
But she first planned to celebrate her good fortune. She said, "I'm going to get some beers tonight and party!"
Out Of The Blue
Torquil also scooped a fantastic £30,000 cheque. He was left shocked by the prize amount and later said, "It was quite out of the blue. I wasn't expecting that much to be honest!"
Torquil was quick to decide that some of his winnings would be going towards family, especially with the holidays around the corner. He said, "We've got Christmas coming up with eight grandkids. There'll be a knock on the door tonight, they'll already have their eyes on what they want for Christmas!
"We'll get the family together and go out to have a meal. We'll definitely have a celebration."
He also hoped to use some of his prize money for holidays next year with his partner Lynne. He added, "We'll definitely go on holiday. We'd like to get back to Gran Canaria, we're hoping to get back there. Lynne has some cousins in America, so we might go visit them as well."
Danyl Johnson congratulated all our winners and said, "What a great way to start your weekend! I had a fantastic time presenting this good news to Gemma, Gail, Michelle, Torquil and our other winners in Morecambe.
"Winning with your neighbours is what People's Postcode Lottery is all about and I'm so pleased this close community are celebrating together. I hope they enjoy their prizes and go and treat themselves with the winnings."
