Over The Moon In Whitburn

23 April 2021 - EH47 8JB - Whitburn - £30,000

Seven neighbours from a West Lothian town are celebrating scooping today's £30,000 Street Prize! The good news comes after EH47 8JB in Whitburn was announced as a winning postcode. Six of our winners picked up £30,000 each with a seventh netting an amazing £60,000 thanks to playing with two tickets.

Our winners received their good news when our Street Prize team came knocking on their doors, following strict social-distancing guidelines.

Chuffed To Bits

Among our £30,000 winners was Susan. On seeing how much she had won, she exclaimed, "Oh my God. I don't believe that, it's brilliant! I can't describe how I feel, I'm just shaking. Things like this just don't happen."

Susan could hardly believe her luck but she did have some plans for her prize, including treats for her family. She said, "I can't describe how much it means, I can get the things I want. It'll get me the new kitchen I want and treat my two boys. They've been here for me and we've been through quite a lot. It'll be nice to spend it on what I want without thinking about it for a while!"

Susan was thrilled to be winning with her neighbours, too. She said, "I'm so pleased that we're all sharing it. It's a good wee street, we all know each other and help each other. Well deserved for all of them. I'm over the moon. Chuffed to bits!"

Spreading The Joy

Neighbour Irene was another winner of a £30,000 cheque. On opening her golden envelope to see how much she'd won, her family burst into cheers. Irene said, "Thank you. I thought I was getting something like two grand! I'm going to share it with my family."

When we asked Irene what she might spend her windfall on, she wasn't sure at first. She said, "I don't know, I've never won this much so I'll need to think about it. I'm still a bit in shock!" But her thoughts quickly turned to an upcoming family celebration. She added, "When we can leave the country I'll go to Florida. That's where my daughter is getting married. Because of COVID she's had to cancel it twice, but hopefully next year. We'll have a really good holiday. I'm going to enjoy it, believe you me!"

Wonderful News

Lucky Isabel also scooped £30,000, and couldn't believe how much she'd won. After she saw her cheque she said, "Fabulous, thank you. Oh my gosh! That's wonderful." She later joked, "I asked my husband, 'How much do you think we'll win?' He said, '£15!'"

Isabel is expecting a grandchild in August and couldn't wait to share her good fortune. She added, "First of all, I'm going to be a granny, so I'll be able to spoil the baby, my family and my friends who have been supportive this year."

She also had some home improvements in mind. She exclaimed, "Hopefully a new kitchen as well! The cooker doesn't work, the oven is leaky and the fridge must be 25 years old. So it's well overdue!"

When asked how she might celebrate, Isabel was quick to answer. She said, "I've got a bottle of champagne my daughter got me for Mother's Day. For some reason I didn't drink it then, but that will be opened today!"

Top Of The World

Anthony was left stunned on seeing his £30,000 prize. After a few moments he exclaimed, "Wow! I don't know what to say. I just can't even believe it!"

Anthony already knows how he'd spend his winnings, with a big day on the horizon. He said, "It means a lot, we've got a wedding in 20 weeks which still needs a bit of payment towards it.

"This year has been difficult. We've had a few holidays cancelled, we were going to Florida in November and this will allow us to rebook it again and go with the kids next year."

As the news sank in, Anthony was asked how he felt about the win. He answered, "Apart from gobsmacked, top of the world!"

As our visit to Whitburn followed strict social-distancing guidelines, Street Prize Presenter Matt Johnson didn't attend in person. However, he did send his best wishes to all our winners. He said, "What fabulous news for our Whitburn winners, congratulations to them all. I can't think of a better way to start the weekend and I'm sure they'll be celebrating tonight!"
