Plymouth Strikes It Lucky

23 January 2016 - PL3 6BD - Plymouth - £25,000
Danyl Johnson and Plymouth winners Jeffery and Jim cheer on their big wins

Four neighbours in Plymouth are celebrating this weekend after netting a total of £125,000, thanks to their lucky postcode.

PL3 6BD was drawn as this week's Saturday Street Prize winner, and each of its players' winning tickets is worth £25,000.

One of the winners, who plays with two tickets, scooped a whopping £50,000, and the three other neighbours each received an incredible £25,000.

Jeffery Phillips, a local bus mechanic, won £25,000. He said, "As I am a mechanic, I would like a nice car to drive around in. I've had the same car for 12 years, so it's time to get a new one. I've always wanted an Audi, so now I can finally afford one. The guys at work are really pleased for me and since I won, they've been offering to make me more cups of tea than usual!"

Jeffery is also looking forward to a new chapter in his life.

He added, "I'm going to be a granddad for the first time. My daughter Jayne is expecting her first child this year, so I'll be able to help her prepare for the baby's arrival in March. Before then I'll be trying to get a few extra rounds of golf in with my brother."

Another winner was Jim Sandiford, who also received a cheque worth £25,000.

"I have a wife and two daughters, so I think they'll be telling me how the money will be spent. I'll be getting new windows and helping out the children and grandchildren," he said.

"I was just speechless when I saw the cheque for £25,000. I've been playing for 12 months and this is my first win. My wife and I watched a TV advert, and she said we ought to have a go at that because it's good to support so many charities."

The other two winners were not available to receive their cheques.

People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson, who presented the cheques to the winners on their doorstep in Plymouth, said, "It's brilliant that so many people on one street can share this experience. It was an honour to meet the winning players in Plymouth who are helping to raise millions of pounds for so many great causes."
