Street Prize

Payday In Patchway

25 March - BS34 5EN - Patchway - £30,000

Two Patchway residents have each pocketed amazing £30,000 prizes, thanks to their lucky postcode.

The Stroud Road neighbours, who play with postcode BS34 5EN, won the first of the weekend's two Street Prizes.

Nicholas Urch decided to play when he moved into the area 18 months ago. "I thought it would be good to sign up with a brand new postcode," he said. "But I never thought I'd win this much!"

It's not just Nicholas who will benefit from his win. "My brother and I decided to go to Spain on holiday this year, so I said I would treat him – he's delighted!"

As well as a holiday to look forward to, Nicholas is keen to get some work done on his house. "I would love to get a lodger at some point, but I'll need to get the house up to scratch – this money will really help," he said.

Nicholas' neighbour, Glenn Collins, was equally delighted to be presented with his £30,000 cheque. "It was such a shock when the doorbell rang," he said. "I was very surprised that more of my neighbours don't play. We have a holiday coming up, so that will help with spending money and then we may even look into getting a conservatory."

Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "I really enjoyed meeting Glenn and Nicholas today. I hope they both enjoy spending their winnings."

A minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to charities. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £182 Million for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near the winners that has received support from players is Southern Brooks Community Partnerships, which was awarded £15,065 last year for the Patchway Green Spaces project.

There were also celebrations in Porthcawl this weekend, as postcode CF36 3HB was drawn as the winner of the Sunday Street Prize.
