Surprise Prize For Stonehouse
A lucky People's Postcode Lottery player in Stonehouse was left gobsmacked when Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier turned up at his door. The dad-of-three won a thrilling £30,000 cheque when his postcode, GL10 2JY, was drawn as the winner of today's Street Prize.
Nice To Win
Roger exclaimed, "I'm in shock, I'm shaking. It's a brilliant surprise!"
He plans to spend some of his windfall on a special trip as a belated wedding anniversary present to his wife, Lisa. He said, "We do need a holiday. We haven't had a holiday for a while.
"We got married in Antigua and promised ourselves that we'd revisit as a twenty-fifth wedding anniversary present, but it never happened because of lockdown. It'd be nice to be able to go back and do that.
"We might even try and squeeze a cruise around the Caribbean in, too!"
Roger isn't short of people to help him spend the rest of his prize. He said, "I've got three boys, but I don't think they'll believe me when I tell them what's happened. Well, I think they might believe me when they see some money in their bank account. I might treat them to a holiday."
One of the reasons Roger plays People's Postcode Lottery is because he knows he's helping to support Charities. He said, "It's not just about the winning, it's about the giving, too.
"But it is nice to win, and £30,000 is a very nice number to win."
After the event, Jeff Brazier said, "I'm chuffed for Roger and loved hearing his plans for the winnings. It certainly sounds like he and Lisa will have a holiday to remember!"
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted on behalf of Postcode Animal Trust (opens in a new tab), which provides regular grant funding to organisations that work to educate, support and promote animal welfare and conservation. Supported charities include Dogs Trust, Riding for the Disabled Association and PDSA.
Our players are raising funds for charities and good causes across Britain and around the world. To date, People's Postcode Lottery players have raised more than £1 Billion for thousands of deserving projects and organisations. That support is changing lives and making a huge difference every single day.
