Street Prize
Cash For Colchester
Three lucky Colchester neighbours are celebrating after their postcode, CO3 9AF, was drawn as the winner of Saturday's Street Prize - landing them £30,000 each.
Philip Gunton, who owns a local shop, was one of the winners. He was delighted with the win and is planning on treating his family with the money. "My daughters are ten and five, so I think a trip to Disneyland will be on the cards as a special treat. They're the perfect age for it at the moment. After that I'll need to have a think – it will probably go on something sensible!"
Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier said, "I'm thrilled for our Colchester players for their win! It was great to meet Philip and his team at the shop – I think they were all as excited as he was."
The two other £30,000 winners were not available to receive their cheques, but their winnings will be transferred directly into their bank accounts.
As a charity lottery, a minimum of 30% of the ticket price goes directly to good causes. To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £197 Million for charities across Great Britain and internationally.
A local charity that has received support from People's Postcode Lottery players is The Mercury Theatre Colchester, which was awarded £13,470 last year to create theatre groups for young people.
There was also a very happy player in Exeter as EX4 1PA was drawn as the winner of Sunday's Street Prize.
