Delighted In Dorchester
In July's draws there are whopping Street Prize cheques landing in postcodes every single day. Our latest happy winners are a couple from Dorchester who are volunteers with Swanage Railway. They are celebrating today after discovering a £60,000 prize is pulling into their postcode. Heather, who plays People's Postcode Lottery with two tickets, scooped the cash when her postcode DT1 2BX was drawn as the winner of our £30,000 Street Prize.
Heather, a Leading Porter at Harmans Cross station, and her husband Peter, who's the Station Master, say it's lovely to receive a cheque with a few noughts on it. The couple, who also are involved in hospital radio broadcasting in Dorset, say they'll spend the money wisely.
Charities Benefit By Playing
Heather said, "We feel pretty gobsmacked to be winners of People's Postcode Lottery. We know that by playing we've done a lot of good for Charities, and we've been rewarded with prize money which is going to be very useful for us."
Peter added, "There are a few things around the house that we need to do. Most of the houses here were built in the 1930s so it won't be long before bits start falling off. We'd like to get some landscaping done around the garden. It's getting a bit much to do as our age increases and the joints start creaking a bit."
Street Prize Presenter Danyl Johnson said, "I've had a brilliant month travelling around Britain giving away £30,000 prizes every day of the week to our lucky players. I've had a great time in Dorchester with Heather and Peter and who knows where we'll end up next? We could be knocking on your door really soon!"
Good Causes Across Britain
At People's Postcode Lottery, 32% of the ticket price goes directly to charities, and our wonderful players have raised more than £450 Million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally. Check out the latest news to see some of the fantastic projects which player funding makes possible.
Today's prize is part of a draw promoted by Depaul UK, which has received over £7.7 Million thanks to players. This money is helping the charity tackle the immediate and long-term effects of homelessness by increasing the number of volunteering programmes on offer.
