Car Prize

Magnificent Win In Meltham

30 July - HD9 5NA - Meltham - £5,000 + BMW

For the second time within a year, players in the Meltham area have scooped an amazing prize with People's Postcode Lottery.

The latest four winners, with the postcode HD9 5NA, won £5,000 each today – and one of them also walked away with the keys to a brand new BMW.

Lorraine Cooper had just put her car into the garage for repairs when she discovered she'd won the car and £5,000. She said, "It's absolutely brilliant to win the car and the cash. I've got a 4x4 at the moment, which is good for getting around in the winter, but it will be lovely to drive around in a smarter car. We always buy second-hand cars so this was a nice surprise. I've got two greyhounds, but they won't be allowed in the BMW!

"My husband Grahame and I will plan a holiday together and I'll share my win with my two children."

Cricket fan Michael Day also won £5,000. The retired IT engineer is planning a special trip to watch the England team. "I'm a big cricket fan and I've only ever watched England play on television. When I found out I'd won £5,000, I called my friend who is going to the West Indies to watch the team in action and told him to save a place for me.

"I'm so glad I signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery. It's a great way to support charities and, like me, you can win money."

Two other residents of Moorland Rise were unavailable to receive their cheques but their prize money will be paid direct into their bank accounts.

Less than a year ago, 67 nearby neighbours in the small Yorkshire town of Holmfirth (where the BBC classic 'Last of the Summer Wine' was filmed) shared a £2 Million prize pot at People's Postcode Lottery's Postcode Millions event.

People's Postcode Lottery Ambassador Matt Johnson said, "I'm a very happy man giving out prizes to our lovely winners in Meltham. More than £129 Million has been raised by players for charities. So what are you waiting for? With People's Postcode Lottery there are chances to win every single day."

Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised £129 Million for good causes around Great Britain and internationally. A project near Holmfirth that has received support is the Thurstonland Cricket Club, which was awarded £1,495 this year for its junior coaching programme.

Also this weekend, we had the Postcode Millions land in Mansfield, a Saturday Street Prize arrive in Nercwys, another £25,000 Street Prize scooped in Whitstable and the Dream Holidays were won in Barnet.
