Postcode Millions

Euphoric In Ellesmere

30 November 2019 - SY12 0BN - Ellesmere - £3 Million

It will be a Christmas to remember for 441 residents from Ellesmere as their postcode sector SY12 0 shared a £3 Million prize pot in November's Postcode Millions prize.

Eight neighbours scooped £187,418 each when SY12 0BN was revealed as the full winning postcode.

First up to receive their cheque was Joe, who was one of our lucky winners of £187,418.

Joe was speechless when he saw the full amount on the cheque, and said, "It's surreal. I've no idea what I'll do with the money. There will be a big party tonight though, it will probably still be going on tomorrow!"

Another big winner was Liam. His family and friends were there to watch the big cheque reveal. They had already cracked open the bubbly when our team arrived, and the whole house erupted in cheers when he was presented with his winnings!

Liam, who was overcome with emotion, said, "It's just out of this world. It's a crazy amount of money. My daughter turns four next year so I can put money away for her. I can finally buy a house too, I never thought I'd come into money like this!"

Our winner Donna was brought to tears when her cheque was revealed. She explained the impact the win would have on her life, "This money is life changing for us, it'll make everything so much easier and make a huge difference.

"I work a lot so being able to work a little less would be nice and also being able to give my children the best Christmas ever is really special."

Emotional, Shocked, Excited

Donna has been playing People's Postcode Lottery for over a year now and described her win as being even more exciting because she's won with her neighbours. She said, "It's great that I have won but I have loved winning with my friends and other members of the community. I really just can't explain to you how emotional, shocked and excited I feel right now."

Next up getting a knock on the door was David, who hopes to give his garden a complete makeover with his winnings. He said, "I was hoping we'd win a few thousand pounds so I could get a new garden fence but I'm now able to completely revamp the garden."

He explained that the money has come at a great time for him and his family, "With Christmas just around the corner it'll make a big difference to us all, I'll be making sure we've got a really big turkey this year."

Impact On The Community

Lynn was joined by her mother and aunt on her doorstep when the People's Postcode Lottery team turned up, and was stunned when she received her cheque.

She explained that she signed up to play because of all the charities supported, and the incredible impact on the whole community.

Chris and his partner Hayley were with their two young sons when they found out they'd won £187,418.

He said, "Wow! I'm shocked, I don't know what to say. We've not long moved into this house so we can spend it on doing it up, and spoil the kids of course. We've always wanted to take them Disney World in Florida and now we can! It will be a once in a lifetime trip."

Chris' partner Hayley said, "I feel like I'm in a dream."

Richard signed up to play this year because he heard a few of his neighbours were playing and didn't want to miss out if his postcode was drawn as a winner. Richard, who was left speechless, is going to use his winnings to buy his council house.

An eighth lucky winner of £187,418 was unable to receive their cheque, but their winnings will be paid directly into their bank account.

Our remaining 433 winners received amazing cheques ranging from £3,206 to £9,618.

People's Postcode Lottery Presenters Matt Johnson and Danyl Johnson were knocking on doors and handing out cheques. Danyl said, "It's been a great day here in Ellesmere and myself and Matt have absolutely loved meeting the winners. Handing out cheques at any time of year is always really exciting but doing it on the run up to Christmas makes it even more special."

Good Causes Across Britain

With People's Postcode Lottery, 32% of the ticket price goes to charities and good causes. Our players are raising funds for thousands of amazing organisations across Britain and around the world. To date, players have raised more than £500 Million for community projects and charitable groups.

This prize is part of a draw promoted by Postcode Equality Trust which supports global charities and good causes that are working for a fairer world by addressing inequality in society through improvements in health, human rights, education and community development.

Local good causes have benefited from player support too. Earlier this year, Horatio's Garden at Shropshire's Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries received funding from players of People's Postcode Lottery through the Postcode Local Trust. This funded the role of a new horticultural therapist who runs the charity's gentle garden therapy, offering weekly physical and mental support to patients and their families.

Don't miss your chance to win. See How It Works or check out the amazing Prizes that lucky players can win. If you haven't signed up to play yet, it's quick and easy to join the fun. Winning postcodes are announced every single day and we have thousands of happy winners every week. You never know, with a little bit of luck, we could have a golden envelope for you!

Our Ellesmere players weren't the only ones celebrating. Two residents in a lucky postcode collected £30,000 each in Saturday's Street Prize, whilst seven players also celebrated receiving superb wins in our Sunday Street Prize.
