Postcode Millions
Boreham Scoops Big Prize
Two extremely excited Essex residents scooped huge prizes this weekend when their postcode, CM3 3GY in Boreham, was revealed as the full winning postcode in the August Postcode Millions.
Tracie Barry, 43, who plays with two tickets, walked away with a massive £666,666. Tracie's neighbour, 57 year old David Carter, plays with one ticket and scooped an impressive £333,333. A total of 24 players were part of the celebration which saw residents in postcode sector CM3 3 share a £2 Million prize pot. Prizes included cheques from £7,295 to £666,666 and a brand new BMW. Tracie and David were the only players living in full winning postcode CM3 3GY and therefore walked away with the lion's share of the £2 Million prize money.
Tracie Barry attended the celebration with her partner Paul. Tracie said, "I am feeling very emotional, I will definitely be celebrating tonight."
Tracie, a welfare officer for a local housing association, said, "When they revealed my first cheque for £14,590 I was delighted but when I saw that it was my full postcode that had won I was left utterly stunned. I have phoned my two sons Sean, 19, and Nick, 22, and I don't think they believe me. They'll definitely believe me when they see my amazing cheque when I get home." Tracie's partner Paul, a builders merchant, felt a little light headed when the cheque amount was revealed: "I really thought I was going to faint," said Paul.
Tracie has only been playing People's Postcode Lottery since January. She has already decided what she'll be spending some of her prize money on. "It was my Dad's 90th birthday just last week and he's always wanted a bungalow so I am so happy that we'll be able to help."
Also celebrating on the day was David Carter with his wife Ladda and daughter Cheryl. David said, "This will definitely change our lives forever."
David, who has worked as a civil servant for the past six years, said, "This is just fantastic, this is all for my wife. She's the best wife ever and everything I have ever done is for her, whatever she wants to do with the money is her decision." David and Ladda have been married for 36 years and are planning to head off to Thailand to renew their marriage vows. "We're going to have the big wedding we've always wanted but could never afford. It's going to be amazing." David and Ladda have two children, a son Michael, 35, and a daughter Cheryl who is 34.
Like Tracie, David has only been playing People's Postcode Lottery for a few months, "I only started playing three months ago but I'll definitely continue to play even though I've won. I have six brothers and five sisters and I'll be making sure they all sign up now."
Other winners on the day included sector winners Nicola Orchard and Paul Luxor. Nicola, who had already won £43,770, also picked up the keys to a brand new BMW 1 Series. Nicola had left her husband at home with the kids to come to the celebration with two friends. Nicola said, "My husband didn't believe me when I told him I'd won the money, there is no way he's going to believe me when I tell him about the car. This whole day has left me absolutely speechless."
Paul was at the event with his wife Heidi and scooped a whopping £116,720. Paul and Heidi are off to Venice in a few weeks to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, returning to the spot where they spent their honeymoon. Paul said, "We'll definitely use some of the money on our trip but we have two boys, one who is at university so I am delighted that we'll be able to help him out."
Winners and their families were invited to an exclusive cheque presentation at Crix on London Road in Chelmsford. Owner of Crix, Ian Twinley said: “My wife Alison and I get to support a number of charities at Crix and given that players of People's Postcode Lottery support so many great charities across Great Britain, we are delighted to be part of it.”
This is the second time this year that the Postcode Millions has landed in England. In February, it was residents of Hull who were coining it in when they shared the £2 Million prize pot. People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt said, "It's been a really good day today at the beautiful Crix. We had a great time in Hull at the start of the year so it's great to be back in England celebrating with more of our lovely players. We also had some of the fantastic charities that are supported by the players in attendance who were able to talk about the great work that is achieved through the continued support."
Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £30.3 Million for charities and good causes across the country. Missing People, Canal & River Trust, National Trust and Maggie's are just some of the deserving charities to benefit from the support of players of People's Postcode Lottery.
