Postcode Millions

£2 Million Windfall For Slough

June Postcode Millions 2015
Slough players won an incredible £2 Million in the June Postcode Millions

There were screams and shouts of joy today when a stunned Slough player was left speechless after her postcode, SL3 7HP, was announced as the June Postcode Millions full winning postcode. She was the lucky winner of a whopping £400,000.

Deborah Lawrence, 57, attended the Postcode Millions celebration with her daughter Jemma. "It's unbelievable," she said. "My family will be very happy this year."

Thanks to playing with the full winning postcode, revealed at the celebration at Upton Court Park, Slough, Deborah plans to treat her family. "My son, Daniel, and his partner have just announced that they are having twins," she said. "It's extra special news as they were struggling to start a family, so we're calling them the little miracles. The money will definitely go towards a double buggy, among other things – it'll be two of everything."

As well as her two new grandchildren on the way, Deborah has plans for her six-year-old grandson, Bruno. "Bruno will be getting Spanish lessons this year," she said. "His dad, who is my daughter Jemma's partner, speaks five languages, so I'm sure Bruno will follow in his footsteps."

Mother-of-three Deborah signed up to play People's Postcode Lottery two years ago to support charities and good causes. "I work as a Volunteering Development Manager for Age Concern Slough, so I know how important funding is for smaller charities."

Deborah and her husband of 34 years, Stuart, have already booked a family holiday to Majorca this year with their three children and two grandchildren. "We can all celebrate together on holiday," she said. "I'm looking forward to getting my hair done and pampering myself before we jet off. By winning this money, it means we can also get some winter sun this year. Perhaps somewhere like Africa or the Caribbean."

Another big winner on the day, Catherine Whitaker, was delighted to win £20,556. "I've wanted to go to San Diego Zoo my whole life to see the endangered species and the polar bear colony, and now I'll be able to afford it," she said. "Hopefully my husband Bob and I can go at the end of the year. It was also really nice to meet the charity representative from Missing People. I'm hoping to volunteer with them in the future."

The event saw 153 residents in the winning postcode sector SL3 7 share a £2 Million prize pot, with prizes ranging from £1,712 to £400,000.

Two People's Postcode Lottery ambassadors, Danyl Johnston and Judie McCourt, were on hand at the event to congratulate winners and hand out big cheques. A former X-Factor star, Danyl Johnston said, "I have loved being in Slough today. The sun was shining and all the players were so excited and really enjoyed celebrating together."

It's not just players who win by playing People's Postcode Lottery, as over £72.2 Million has been awarded to charities and good causes. The winners' celebration saw a number of supported charities in attendance, including for the Riding for the Disabled Association, Médecins Sans Frontières, Girlguiding, Missing People, Book Aid International, Canal & River Trust, Royal Voluntary Service and War Child.
