Celebrating the planet's favourite storyteller as he marks birthday milestone

With his instantly recognisable voice and engaging storytelling, Sir David Attenborough has inspired generations to care not only about nature but to act to protect the planet we share.
Through his pioneering documentaries, the beloved broadcaster has brought wildlife from the deepest oceans, frozen polar regions and hottest deserts into our homes.
And this month, Sir David’s remarkable life and career are being celebrated as the beloved broadcaster, biologist and historian turns 100.

Sir David Attenborough was named a Postcode Lottery Hero in 2020
Devoting over seven decades to natural history programmes, Sir David has raised global awareness of plastic pollution, deforestation and species extinction, and he has sounded the alarm on climate change.
Many of the causes he champions are close to the hearts of Postcode Lottery players, who together have raised millions of pounds for conservation charities.
Sir David was named a Postcode Lottery Hero in 2020 in recognition of his environmental work and advocacy for nature.

Environmental charities supported by Postcode Lottery players include WWF UK, Zoological Society of London, Blue Marine Foundation, Fauna and Flora International and The Wildlife Trusts.

Postcode Lottery sponsored the world premiere of Sir David’s acclaimed documentary, Ocean, in May last year, which was attended by King Charles.
