HOMELESS CHARITIES IN BLACKPOOL THAT NEED YOUR SUPPORT

The Ashley Foundation

If you want to help a local charity with your volunteering, Blackpool has many options, including The Ashley Foundation. Founded in 1997 to help provide accommodation and support for homeless people, the charity's head office is on Abingdon Street in Blackpool, while it also has a presence in Blackburn and Sunderland.

Working to three core principles of empowerment, collaboration, and integration, The Ashley Foundation has a network of hostels which provide safe, secure, and stable living environments. As well as providing four meals a day, the charity also offers a range of training and educational courses which you could help out with by volunteering with The Ashley Foundation.

Caritas Care

With roots that can be traced all the way back to 1897, Caritas Care is based in nearby Ashton-on-Ribble and has an office on Blackpool's Furness Avenue. It offers a range of services and projects to support people through things such as adoption, fostering, and homelessness.

The charity's Vincent House homelessness facility provides supported accommodation for up to 14 people aged between 16 and 65, and requires staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You could volunteer with Caritas Care and help to maintain the facility, providing individual guidance and advice, or help with things like resettlement, signposting, and skills training.

Emmaus Preston

A network of around 30 residential sites dotted around the UK, Blackpool's local Emmaus branch is based just 15 miles away in Preston. Supporting more than 800 formerly homeless people in total, the charity provides stable accommodation to people affected by homelessness for as long as they need it, as well as a job.

Emmaus Preston can accommodate up to 26 people, while also running three charity shops on Brookfield Street, Deepdale Mill Street, and Fishergate. Whether you're volunteering with Emmaus Preston at one of those shops or at the residential site, this is a great charity to get involved with.
