Homeless Charities In Northampton That Need Your Help
Richmond Fellowship Group - CAN Housing
CAN Housing is an off-shoot of the Richmond Fellowship Group, a UK wide charity that offers assistance to those suffering from issues such as alcohol or substance abuse, as well as homelessness.
Through its CAN Housing scheme, the organisation is able to provide safe, warm accommodation for 61 people at a time, as well as other support from trained experts. Get in touch directly with their centre and office on Giles Street for volunteering opportunities, which can vary from helping out with admin, to outreach and maintaining their homes.
The Lowdown is a Northampton based charity that aims to prevent children and young people from ending up on the streets or in dangerous situations. It does this through services that offer support for mental health, poverty, sexual health and LGBTQ issues.
Through counselling, information and advice, The Lowdown is able to empower young people in the area and provide a friendly place for them to go to discuss problems and get help with any issues they might be having. By offering this safe space, the organisation is able to help those experiencing a crisis, avoiding a scenario that could lead to them having no home or family to turn to.
The Lowdown is always in need of more people to join its 60 volunteers, who work directly with young people as support and youth workers, as well as behind the scenes helping with DIY and maintenance.
You could also get involved with fundraising by working at a charity event in Northampton, or by organising your own challenge. The charity also has a list of items in need of donation, so lend a hand simply by ticking some of them off!
