Fostering Felines
People's Postcode Lottery Ambassadors Danyl Johnson and Judie McCourt visited Cats Protection at its Warrington Adoption Centre, to see how player funding of over £1 Million is making a difference to the charity.
Relying On Volunteers
The centre, which opened in 1986 and moved to its current location in 2013, relies heavily on its volunteers who are trained by a team leader. This particular role is funded by our players, and helps the centre to rehome around 750 cats a year.
Danyl said, "Spending time with kittens and cats at the Warrington centre was definitely a highlight of our visit to the North West.
"I'm lucky to have a job that involves giving out big sums of money to people, and seeing first-hand the impact that funding from players makes to local charities was a bonus. It's a win-win situation as both local people and local good causes win."
Every Cat Treated With Kindness
Cats Protection has 36 adoption centres throughout the UK, as well as 250 volunteer-run branches. By rehoming and neutering cats, as well as educating pet owners about their welfare, the charity is working towards its vision of a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.
Sonia Scowcroft, Regional Centre Operations Manager at Cats Protection said, "We have cats with lots of different characters and special requirements, and we want to find the right match for all of them.
"A huge thank you to players in St. Helens, Warrington, and everywhere else for that matter, as your support helps us make the perfect pairing."
Feline Charities And More
It's not only animal charities like Cats Protection that our players support. There's a whole range of amazing causes for which our players have raised over £486 Million to date. Not only that, players have the chance to win amazing Prizes just by signing up to People's Postcode Lottery. To find out more, check out How It Works.
