The Children's Foundation - Baby Box
The Children's Foundation Baby Box was developed to give newborn babies in vulnerable families in the North East of England the 'best' start in life.

The project, which received £10,106 in funding raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery, awarded through Postcode Neighbourhood Trust, launched in June 2022 to help those families most in need.
The free Baby Box goes to families in Gateshead and Newcastle who are in need of support, providing them with toys, games, and books. Also included in the box is a mattress and bedding, providing babies with a safe sleeping environment.
Claire Allin, Project Leader said, "Funding from players of People's Postcode Lottery has made a huge difference to us. The support we have received has helped us get this project up and running and we're seeing the positive impact the baby boxes are having on families every day.
"The box includes developmentally stimulating toys, games, and books to help parents promote the best start in life, with a focus on laughing, playing, reading, singing, and counting - all known to encourage optimal brain development in children.
"We want to remind parents, families, and carers that they are cared for, and to promote a great start for all children born in the North East."
Sean Soulsby, CEO of Children's Foundation said, "Far too many North East children are born into poverty and our region has fallen behind others in terms of school attainment and health inequalities. Our baby box is a great way to support healthy baby development through the simple everyday.
"Positive experiences early in life are closely associated with better performances at school, good emotional development, improved work outcomes, and better lifelong health. Tackling these issues is vital to levelling up.
