Street Prize

Merry In Manchester

25 June 2017 - M9 6SH - Manchester - £30,000

One lucky Manchester resident got a very exciting visit when Street Prize Presenter Judie McCourt arrived at her door with a cheque for £30,000.

Postcode M9 6SH was drawn as the winner of this week's Sunday Street Prize, landing Toni-ann Thorpe the prize money.

Toni-ann is delighted with her win. She said, "I'm over the moon! It's such a shock. I didn't believe it was real to begin with. It's great that I'll be able to pay off all of my bills and spoil my two daughters. I'm a full-time student at the moment, training to be a paramedic, so I'm kept very busy, but I might try and find time to treat myself to a holiday too."

Toni-ann joined People's Postcode Lottery primarily to support charities. "It's a great way to give money to charity because it goes to a range of causes, which is why I originally signed up – so winning is a bonus!"

Judie McCourt said, "It was fantastic to meet Toni-ann today. I'm so delighted for her and know it'll make a big difference to her and her family. I hope she enjoys spending it."

To date, players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised over £205 Million for more than 2,800 good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A local charity that has received support from People's Postcode Lottery players is Manchester Refugee Support Network, which was awarded £11,949 last year for a project to promote healthy and active lifestyles for young people from a refugee background.

There were also some lucky winners in Tamworth, as postcode B77 1GP was the winner of Saturday's Street Prize.
