Lady luck has been in Saltford this Sunday with a £30,000 prize arriving for one People's Postcode Lottery player.
Nigel was the lucky winner thanks to his postcode, BS31 3HP, being drawn in Sunday's Street Prize. Nigel wasn't available to receive his cheque, but his wife Victoria was surprised on their doorstep by Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier.
Victoria said, "I absolutely can't believe it – it doesn't seem real. I'll get a bottle of champagne ready for Nigel getting home, we definitely need to celebrate this!
The Postcode Lottery raises money for so many great causes, a few of which we've been personally affected by, so that's the reason we play. This is a massive bonus!"
Jeff Brazier said, "I never get tired of seeing the emotional responses when I present these cheques. I hope Nigel and Victoria enjoy their win and do something exciting together."
A fantastic 32% of the ticket price goes to charities. To date, our players have raised £320 Million for over 4,000 good causes across Great Britain and internationally. This prize was part of a draw promoted by charity CLIC Sargent.
One local charity that has benefited from player funding is StreetSpace Knowle. The group was awarded £1,686 last year to create a suitable space for youth drop-ins and a young dads group.
Saltford wasn't the only place celebrating this weekend. Our Saturday Street Prize also saw two winners scooping £30,000. An amazing £3 Million was also shared out amongst players in our July Postcode Millions prize.
