Postcode Millions

Incredible Win For Invergordon

September Postcode Millions 2014

An Invergordon resident has won a phenomenal £1 Million when his postcode IV18 0JP was revealed as the full winning postcode in the September Postcode Millions. At the Postcode Millions event at Kincraig Castle Hotel, 275 residents shared a total prize pot of £2 Million.

Colin Watson, 66, plays with four tickets and scooped the lion's share of the prize pot. Colin was stunned when his four cheques for £250,000 each were revealed. "Wow! I can't believe this, I am so shocked," said Colin. "I've definitely got that Friday feeling today."

Colin, who was joined at the event by his close friends, had just been awarded a cheque for £12,356 when the sector was revealed. But that cheque was soon ripped up when it was announced that his full postcode was the big winner on the day.

Joining Colin at the celebrations were a further 274 winners who shared the other £1 Million in the prize pot.

Colin, Managing Director at MF Marine Operations, said "I've never won anything like this in my life before, the most I've won is a box of sweeties at a raffle so this is just amazing."

Colin had been up in Ullapool enjoying the Looplu festival but headed back down to Invergordon to find out how much he had won with the Postcode Millions. “I can't wait to phone my friends up in Ullapool and tell them just how much I've won - they'll never believe it!” said Colin.

Colin's two sons, Donald and David, weren't at the event as they were working. However, with such a large number of people winning at the event in Invergordon, Colin was sure it wouldn't be too long until they found out. Colin actually received a text straight after the event from his nephew calling him a "Jammy Uncle."

When asked why he signed up to play, Colin said it was the charity lottery's work with local good causes. "I like that by playing People's Postcode Lottery I am supporting local charities in my own area, you see that it's making a difference on your own doorstep."

Sector winner John Brennan, 68, had already scooped £6,178 during the cheque presentation when he was called back on stage and discovered he had also won a brand new BMW 1 Series. John said, "I am absolutely speechless, this is just awesome."

John was originally planning on taking a trip to Gleneagles to watch the Ryder Cup but decided at the last minute to come along to the Millions event instead. "My friends are waiting for me at the Ryder Cup, I can't wait to get up there and tell them that not only have I won £6,178 but I have also won this an amazing new car."

The party saw residents in the winning postcode sector IV18 0 share the massive prize pot, with prizes ranging from £343 up to an amazing £1 Million.

The event saw a number of supported charities in attendance including Maggie's, Riding for the Disabled Association and Scottish Wildlife Trust. Marianne McIntosh, Fundraising Organiser for Maggie's Highlands, was attending her first Postcode Millions and described the excitement of the day. "It's been an absolutely wonderful day here at Kincraig Castle Hotel. I've thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the winners and seeing how much they have all won. Maggie's has received over £3 Million from players of People's Postcode Lottery and I am delighted to be here today to thank the players personally for all their wonderful support which makes such a difference to people with cancer and their family and friends. Congratulations to all the winners from Invergordon."

Postcode Millions presenter Judie McCourt said, "I would like to wish our first ever Postcode Millionaire, Colin, a massive congratulations! It's been a fantastic day here at Kincraig Castle Hotel and I hope the other winners enjoy spending their share of the prize pot."
