Players Help Manchester Dogs
Players support Manchester Dogs Home following last week's disastrous fire
September 25th, 2014
Players of People's Postcode Lottery have given £2,000 to Manchester Dogs Home after the devastating fire that occurred last week.
Following the horrific blaze, which killed 60 dogs, our players made the award to ensure that the dogs who were saved from the fire could be rehomed as quickly as possible.
One of People's Postcode Lottery's newly supported charities, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, has donated over 30 temporary kennels to Manchester Dogs Home.
Kate Pearson, Deputy Head of Charities at People's Postcode Lottery, said, "Team members and players of People's Postcode Lottery were distraught to hear the devastating news last week. As a charity lottery whose players support a number of animal charities through Postcode Animal Trust, we were keen to help in any way possible."
The money raised from individuals and organisations will be used to rebuild the historic home in Harpurhey.
Since 1893, Manchester Dogs Home has been providing shelter and veterinary care to dogs in need of help. Each year, its experts care for over 7,000 dogs, many of which require a great degree of emotional and physical support before they are rehomed. At any one time, the Home can have over 250 dogs waiting to find the perfect family.Return to news archive
