Green For GoVo

A new platform is set to boost volunteering.

A "transformational" digital platform to boost volunteering across Britain has launched, made possible with support from players of People's Postcode Lottery.

The platform - called GoVo - has been developed by Royal Voluntary Service and will make it easier for people to give their time and for charities to recruit and onboard volunteers.

Completely free for the public and charities of all sizes to use, GoVo aims to become the biggest ever digital community for volunteering roles - and has been created thanks to £5 Million in funding raised by Postcode Lottery players.

GoVo is home to flexible, diverse opportunities including short, one-off tasks, regular activities, in-person roles and those which can be done remotely.

It offers people the ability to search and click and connect with the causes they care about with each volunteer having access to at least 150 volunteering opportunities.

It will also help charities mobilise the next generation of community support by making volunteering more flexible, inclusive, and more suited to modern life.

Already around 3,000 national, regional and local charities have registered with GoVo.

Catherine Johnstone CBE, Chief Executive of Royal Voluntary Service, said: "Volunteer recruitment and retention is becoming increasingly difficult for many charities. There’s a keen desire to volunteer, we just need to remove barriers and widen access with opportunities to fit into modern life.

"Flexibility is at the heart of GoVo and there are roles to suit all commitments and interest areas.

"Welcoming millions more into the volunteering world could be transformational and improve life for all.

"I’m therefore delighted that thanks to Postcode Lottery players, we’re able to create a platform that will help boost volunteering in Britain."
