HOMELESS CHARITIES IN BOURNEMOUTH THAT NEED YOUR SUPPORT
Crisis
Having grown from its origins as an organisation that helped homeless people at Christmas time, Crisis is now one of the UK's foremost charities in this area. It offers an all-encompassing service aimed at providing ongoing support and advice, as well as training and education to help people further themselves.
You could help out by volunteering with Crisis at your nearest Skylight support centre.
Depaul UK
As well as helping homeless people across Britain, Depaul also boasts a presence in countries such as the Republic of Ireland, France and America.
Depaul's ever-expanding operation couldn't happen without the help of people like you who provide their time or open up their homes as a Nightstop host. From sporting programmes to support centres, there are lots of ways to volunteer with Depaul UK.
Bournemouth Churches Housing Association
Founded back in 1968 by a network of local churches, the Bournemouth Churches Housing Association (BCHA) contributes practical help for those suffering from housing problems. At any one time, the BCHA provides access to its Floating Support Service to around 500 people in Bournemouth.
This helps people to stay off the streets, while 86% of the homeless people the charity helps successfully move on to independent living. From welcoming new faces to a BCHA refuge to cooking meals at a shelter, dealing with IT queries and taking care of admin tasks, there are lots of ways to volunteer with Bournemouth Churches Housing Association.
YMCA Bournemouth
Helping people of all ages from all walks of life, YMCA Bournemouth's ethos is to help people develop and reach their full potential in mind, body and spirit. It does this by offering a range of services including youth projects, supported housing, training and education.
Whether you're taking health and wellbeing classes at the Junction Sports & Leisure Centre in Broadstone, volunteering with the charity at its children's centre in Pokesdown or becoming a peer mentor for someone looking to move into employment, you can find a wide variety of roles to help out with.
Safe And Sound Dorset
A charity that reaches out to women in and around the Boscombe and Springbourne area of Bournemouth, Safe and Sound Dorset offers services such as one-on-one befriending and mentoring, while also referring those it helps to other local services that can be of help.
You could get involved with Safe and Sound Dorset by becoming an Outreach volunteer, helping out at a one-off event, lending your professional skills or greeting people at a weekly drop-in session.
