Volunteering For Homeless Charities In Croydon
While the vast majority of us in the UK live in warm and comfortable homes, there are still thousands out there that don't have such good fortune. Unfortunately, homelessness is a troubling issue that's only getting worse year after year. While it mainly affects big cities like London and Manchester, you'll find smaller areas also have their fair share of rough sleepers who are in need of help.
Why Volunteer For A Homeless Charity In Croydon?
There are many reasons why someone may end up homeless, from failing to get full time employment because of health problems, to simply having no family to turn to when things get tough. The cost of housing is also a major factor - especially in areas like Croydon, which is counted as one of the top 13 places for rates of homelessness in the UK.
While we may not be able to change the state of the job and rental market, we can assist the nation's most vulnerable people by getting involved with wonderful homeless charities. From providing free and affordable housing to offering up long-term welfare and employment support, here are just some of Croydon's local charities that are always in need of extra pairs of hands.

The Trussell Trust Croydon Foodbank
Part of The Trussell Trust, Croydon Foodbank is based just around the corner from West Croydon station. It's been offering homeless and underprivileged people in the local area emergency food supplies since 2013.
As well as providing three-day emergency food bundles, Croydon Foodbank also provides free hot meals and drinks to clients visiting the centre. It works from a referral system that sees organisations, from health services to the police, passing on vouchers to those in need who can then use them at the foodbank. The charity is always in need of volunteers, to not only donate food items but sort through them, so they can be more easily and fairly distributed.
