Incredible Win In Ilkeston

11 April 2015 - DE7 4HN - Ilkeston - £25,000 - CT3 2EW - Ash - £5,000 Dream Holiday
Five of our fantastic Ilkeston winners celebrate with People's Postcode Lottery presenter Judie McCourt

There were two sets of lucky winners this weekend, with the Saturday Street Prize landing in Ilkeston and the £5,000 Dream Holiday in Ash.

Six players in Ilkeston are over the moon this week after their postcode, DE7 4HN, was drawn as a winner in the Saturday Street Prize. The winners were thrilled to be surprised by presenter Judie McCourt and the team from People's Postcode Lottery.

The luckiest of the bunch, Nicola Clarke, 46, was delighted to win £25,000 after only one month of playing. "I decided to play because my colleagues recommended it, and I wanted to support charities. I can't believe I've won so soon," she said.

Admin manager Nicola already has some plans on how to spend the money. "I would love to go on a big family holiday to Egypt with my husband Scott and my daughters Chloe and Laura," she said. "We went a long time ago, but haven't been able to afford to go since – it'll be a bit better than Skegness!"

Nicola's neighbour, Janine Osborne, 41, couldn't believe it when she pulled out the cheque for £25,000. "I'm so shocked," she said.

Janine, who is a support worker, was joined by her husband William to accept the cheque. She has a good idea of how to spend her winnings. "I really need a new front door," she said. "Our current one almost blows off in the wind. We've also just booked a week in a cottage in Whitby for the family and our seven dogs, so the money will help pay for it."

Janine is looking forward to celebrating with William and her two daughters, Jade and Lauren, as well as their seven furry friends.

Debbie Wombwell, 42, was surprised to find Judie McCourt and the team on her doorstep with her £25,000 cheque. "This is so exciting," she said.

Although Debbie is still in shock from her win, she has a few thoughts on how to spend her winnings. "My daughter, Jaimie-Leigh, turns 17 soon, so I can pay for her driving lessons. I'll also put some aside for when my 14-year-old daughter Macie learns to drive, and maybe buy them a run-around car."

As well as driving lessons for her daughters, Debbie has a holiday in mind. "My husband Stephen and I were planning on booking a cheap, last-minute holiday," she said. "But now we've won, we can treat ourselves to something special."

Frank McHollas, 77, was equally shocked to receive his £25,000 cheque. "It's great news," he said. Frank, who is a retired Rolls Royce engineer, has plenty of people to treat with his winnings.

"My wife Glennis and I have three children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren between us, so the money won't last long," he said. "I'm keen to also redo the steps in the garden."

Deborah Lisle, 35, was also excited to be presented with her £25,000 cheque. "I feel like a kid at Christmas," she said. "Words can't describe the feeling."

Deborah, who works in a local care home, is thinking along the same lines as her neighbours - she has holidays on her mind. "Disneyland, here we come!" she laughed. Deborah was also delighted to win with her neighbours. "It was great to meet some people on the street I didn't know already," she said. "The people who don't play were all peering out the window - I bet they all sign up now."

There was one more winner on the day who plays with two tickets, but they were unavailable when the team from People's Postcode Lottery called. Their £50,000 will be deposited into their bank account.

After handing out the cheques, Judie McCourt said, "It was so exciting to be in Ilkeston today to meet the five winners. One of the best things about winning with People's Postcode Lottery is that you can win with your neighbours. Everyone today was so happy, and all have great plans for their winnings. I hope they have fun spending the cash."

Our £5,000 Dream Holiday winner in Ash wasn't available to accept their prize, but they will undoubtedly be planning a fantastic trip with their voucher.

Players have raised over £66.4 Million for charities and good causes across Great Britain and internationally. One charity local to the Ilkeston winners is Groundwork Greater Nottingham, which was awarded £7,358 for its Dig in, Stay Out machinery project. The award helped purchase tools and machinery for horticultural training and rehabilitation programmes for ex-offenders.
