Leighton Buzzard Flying High

19 November - LU7 3NF - Leighton Buzzard - £25,000

Two lucky ladies from Leighton Buzzard are celebrating this week after winning £25,000 each, thanks to People's Postcode Lottery.

Anne Smith and Nita Coupland were delighted when their postcode, LU7 3NF, was drawn as one of this weekend's Saturday Street Prize winners.

Anne decided to sign up to play People's Postcode Lottery to help support charities, in particular cancer charities such as CLIC Sargent and Maggie's. "Cancer charities are close to my heart and one of the reasons I signed up," she said. "I'm still in shock that I've won and my family don't believe me!"

With three children and four grandchildren, Anne has plenty of people to spoil with the money in the lead up to Christmas.

"I've been waiting to tell my grandchildren," she said. "I can't wait to see their faces! I think I will look into booking a family holiday all together."

Her neighbour Nita was shocked to see Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier. She said, "When I saw Jeff walking along the street, I thought 'oh my goodness!' It's amazing, I didn't think real people actually won but they do and I did!"

Nita is hoping to use her winnings to have her front garden redone and get a new kitchen.

Street Prize Presenter Jeff Brazier said. "I think that Anne and Nita were both quite shocked to see me today - but delighted when I presented them with their cheques! I hope they enjoy spending their winnings."

Players of People's Postcode Lottery have raised more than £154 Million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.

A project near Leighton Buzzard that has received support from players is Houghton Regis Over 50s IT & Online Skills Club, which was awarded £2,000 to support and develop the IT and digital skills of residents of Houghton Regis aged 50 and above.

Some lucky players in Crawley were also celebrating today, as their postcode RH10 8HE was picked as a winner of this weekend's second Saturday Street Prize.
