Postcode Luck In Peterlee

Lucky £25,000 winner Carolyn Booth alongside People's Postcode Lottery presenter Judie McCourt

One Peterlee player is over the moon this week after winning £25,000, as her postcode, SR8 3EE, was drawn as a winnerin the Saturday Street Prize.

Carolyn Booth, 54, was joined by her mother, former winner Irene, when she was presented with her cheque from People's Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt. "My mum wanted to see if the presenter, Judie, recognised her," said Carolyn.

NHS worker Carolyn signed up to play after seeing her mum take to the stage to collect her £55,100 cheque at a Postcode Millions event in Peterlee in November 2013. "I felt like I was missing out when I saw Mum go up on stage," she said. "I'm always reminded of Mum's win when I see her on the TV adverts, so I'm so glad I signed up when I did."

The win is extra-special for Carolyn, as she has a big event this year. "My daughter, Sarah, is getting married in June, so this money will help a lot," she said. "This might help pay for her honeymoon."

As well as helping with her daughter's wedding, Carolyn would like to go on holiday with her husband David. "We never really go on holiday, so the thought of being able to get away is a treat – the world is our oyster," she said.

After handing over the cheque, Judie said, "I was delighted to meet Carolyn today and to be reunited with her mum Irene. It's fantastic that mother and daughter have now each had a win to celebrate, and I hope Carolyn has a great time spending her winnings."

Players have raised over £58.6 Million for charities and good causes across Great Britain and internationally. One charity local to Carolyn is Centrepoint, a national organisation working to tackle and prevent youth homelessness. The charity was awarded £2,812 to help deliver furniture packages to tenants.
